Together with border guard and customs services of Moldova and Ukraine the Mission facilitates people-to-people contacts, legitimate trade and security. Mission’s funding comes from the European Commission. Administrative and logistical support is provided by the United Nations Development Programme. >>> What EUBAM does Over 200 staff members of the Mission work along 1222 km of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. This includes more than one hundred customs and border guard experts from 22 EU Member States; representatives of several CIS countries in the UNDP contingent, and staff from Moldova and Ukraine. The Mission’s experts are located in six field offices: Basarabeasca, Chisinau, and Otaci in Moldova and Kotovsk, Kuchurhan, and Odesa Port in Ukraine. The Mission has its headquarters in Odesa, southern Ukraine. >>> News Joint Information Newsletter for September 12.09. The latest issue of the Joint Information Newsletter explains changes in procedure for border and customs control of cars at the Ukraine's border checkpoints and working regime of some border crossing points. It also informs about the new version of the web site of the Moldovan Customs Service, development of the interactive forum on rules and regulations of crossing the border and signing of the agreement between FRONTEX and the Moldovan Border Guard Service. A group of 20 students from the Association of Political Science of the University of Leiden, the Netherlands visited the Mission on 29 August. Students met with the Deputy Head of the Mission, Training and Standards Coordinator and representative of the Public Relations Unit. >>> EUBAM shares water reserves with flood affected villages in Moldova and Ukraine 18.08. EU Border Assistance Mission joined the efforts of other EU agencies and Member States in helping Ukraine and Moldova to recover from the recent flooding.
