Of course a president or head of state can be directly elected in a Parliamentary model. But the question is way would you? It cost approximately 100 Million Dollars per round/election to elect a head of state. Under a parliamentary model the question needs to be asked does Ukraine need a directly elected head of state? There are available alternatives such as a constitutional appointment by a 2/3rds majority of the parliament. Even the USA does not have a directly elected head of state. IN the US the president is elected by the electoral college. The Parliament can rightly fulfil this role in a democratic society.

In your own very words you support Yatseniuk`s statements and verify that yes, he is telling the truth. And why are not the Ukrainian people being asked directly via a referendum if they wish to give up their right to directly elect a President? Why is this being decided for them?

No, a parliament absolutely can not rightfly fulfil this role in any society. The electoral college in the USA is not at all the same as a parliament. If the electoral college members did not obey the will of the voters who elected them to the college the nation would be outraged and that would be the end of that awkward and useless process.
