Art Requires Sacrifice!
Victor wasn’t an ordinary movie and TV director. He viewed
the creative process as a way to get satisfaction for himself. His views changed
after he came to God. He realized that creativity comes from God and that it is
impossible to create and to find fulfillment and satisfaction in this process
without coming to know the greatest Creator of all, God. God led him up to the
highest level of creativity. Today Victor participates in God’s creative project
as he establishes His kingdom throughout the earth.
Victor is a movie director by occupation. Creativity was the
foundation of his whole life. Victor used to believe that in it he would be able
to find himself, to become a person and to be useful to society. Because of that
he tried to spend more time at his job. Victor was married but he didn't
consider the family life important.
Says Victor, “My wife was a good woman. Unfortunately, I didn't
appreciate what I had. I couldn’t fulfill the creative potential that was
present in me, and this caused the dissatisfaction in my life to grow. Nothing
around me could give me joy. I was dissatisfied with my whole life and with my
family. I wrongly believed that my wife wasn't paying enough attention to me.
There were constant quarrels in the family which were initiated by me. I
considered myself an indispensable husband and father. I tried to establish my
position of the head of the family through pressure. I would pour out onto my
family all my bitterness and dissatisfaction. My wife and children couldn't
figure out what was going on with me, and it couldn’t go on for long.”
“On the twentieth year of my married life I came to a
conclusion that I had to separate with my family. So I left them and moved to
live with my mother. At first my wife and children tried to do everything to get
me back but as they saw my bitterness and resistance they conceded to my
leaving. Eventually we divorced.”
“I thought that it would be better for me to live alone. I was
wrong. I began to feel so lonely and not needed that I began contemplating
suicide…”
“Some time later I came to Word of Faith Church. Here I found
an opportunity to put to use the talents that the Creator has put in me. I
organized the drama school and began to teach the understanding of the role of
art and of the creative process to all who wanted. I based this not only on my
professional education and experience but also on the new understanding of the
art that God gave me. It brought me joy to see these young people turning into
Christian creative groups’ leaders, ministry leaders and pastors.”
“God kept working in my heart. My personal life has changed. I
married a woman who became a helper for me in everything. She a medical doctor
by occupation. God has brought us together, and we complement each other. I feel
confident with her. We have mutual understanding and most of all, love.”
“When a daughter God’s Embassy church was started in Belaya
Tserkov I was commissioned to serve as a pastor there. My wife Olga became my
assistant in the new church. We serve together in God’s field which the Lord has
prepared for us.”
Victor knows that all opportunities get increased with God. He
believes that there will come a time when his creative abilities will be
fulfilled to God’s glory in a new and powerful way.
“The Christian life is a creative process as well,” Victor
says. “It is the process of creating with God. I help many people in the art
community. Now the fellowship with creative people gives me great
satisfaction.”
“I know that God has great plans for me. I thank God for
pouring out His grace upon the church where I serve as a pastor. God brings
people to the church. The ministries grow as the Lord gives new directions. It
gives me great joy to see people being regenerated into a new life with God. I
am grateful to Him for all my spiritual teachers and mentors who have spent
their time, energy and strength on me. Now came my turn to do the same. I am
ready to serve my God as long as I live.”
Because of God there came order, joy, happiness and love into
Victor’s life. He is grateful to God for taking him to the highest level of
creativity.
