NGOs intend to put pressure upon governments and parliaments of Ukraine and EU

On demand of Ukrainian NGOs representatives, who were co-organizers of “Ukraine-EU: Energy Security Issue” roundtable, some amendments were introduced into the text of the concluding statement, adopted by roundtable participants.

UNIAN was told about this by roundtable participants.

Thus, on demand of Public Committee for Security of Ukraine chairman Oleksiy Tolkachov, a sentence was introduced into the text concerning creating a coordination committee, which is due to unite Ukraine and EU NGOs activities of in order to “use civil society mechanisms to press governments and legislative bodies of their countries for stimulating them to a more active and constructive participation in working out a common European energy policy.”

In his turn, Oleksander Kamianets insisted on introducing into the text of the concluding statement a paragraph to condemn the policy of forced seizures of energy-distributing companies in Ukraine. In particular, he mentioned the cases of pressure on Oblenergos in 2005, connected with Russian businessman Konstantin Grigorishin.

Roundtable participants did not object to introducing the mentioned-above amendments into the text of the concluding statement.
