INTERNATIONAL RENAISSANCE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES COMPETITION FOR THE POSITION OF PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM MANAGER
The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) is the largest national non-government charity organization in Ukraine, founded by the famous American financier and philanthropist George Soros. The Foundation’s objective is to provide financial and operational assistance to the development of an open and democratic society in Ukraine by supporting key civic initiatives in this area.
IRF announces a competition for filling the vacancy of Public Health Program Manager. The selected candidate will run the Public Health Initiative Program, as well as several network programs initiated by the Open Society Institute (OSI-New York) in Ukraine in the area of public health, including the International Harm Reduction Development Program, Mental Disabilities Advocacy Program, and some others.
Successful candidates should have:
- Professional experience in the field of public health or social work;
- Proven experience in program and grant management, including monitoring and evaluation of the efficiency of programs and projects, as well as budget planning;
- Team working skills;
- Excellent English and Ukrainian communication skills (both verbal and written);
- Experience in business correspondence and negotiations;
- Diplomatic skills and ability to be equally comfortable and effective with marginalized people and senior government officials;
- Preferably a Master’s Degree in Public Health or similar relevant academic qualification;
- Good knowledge of NGO activities;
- Strong analytical skills and systematic approach to problem solving;
- Strong PC skills, including MS Office, e-mail and Internet-browsers;
- Tolerant unprejudiced treatment to representatives of vulnerable groups.
Responsibilities will include:
- Administering IRF public health programs;
- Developing strategies, work plans and budgets for the Foundation’s public health programs;
- Establishing and developing relations with key local and international partners;
- Managing provision of technical and financial support to the Foundation’s public health grantees and other partners;
- Monitoring program implementation;
- Developing and maintaining relationships with state and local government officials, donors and other stakeholders operating in the public health area;
- Contributing to the overall technical and organizational strengthening of IRF;
- Assistance in spreading Harm Reduction Ideas;
- Promotion of effective Public Health approaches and principles, including equal access to health care and human rights protection.
