WELCOME

Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to take part in the International Conference on Laser Technologies in Welding and Materials Processing - LTWMP 2003.

It is for the first time that such a Conference will be held in Ukraine in the post-Soviet era, and we expect to have participants from throughout the world, including Ukraine and other CIS countries. For many reasons in the past the opportunities in the past for the laser technology experts from Western and former Socialist countries to meet each other were very few. Now, using hospitality of Ukraine, we will try to bring together researchers and developers from different countries to discuss problems associated with industrial lasers applications.

The E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute and the Laser Technology Research Institute of the NTUU "Kiev Polytechnic Institute" have the honor to be the chief organizers of the Conference, since it is at these institutions that the pioneering research in industrial lasers applications were initiated as far back as the early 60s of the last century.

The Crimea has been chosen to be the venue of the Conference, because this peninsula is considered to be one of the most picturesque places in Ukraine with a unique climate and a lot of sights for seeing. It is the cradle of the ancient Olvia culture, and the Crimean land preserves traces of many other ancient civilizations and historical events.

On behalf of the International Program Committee we will appreciate your taking part in our event and hope you will enjoy communication with the laser technology counterparts from all over the world.

You are cordially welcome to Ukraine, to Katsiveli, to LTWMP-2003!
