Course Development Competition 2005-2006
The Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) of Central European University, sponsored by the Higher Education Support Program of Open Society Institute, announces a call for proposals to develop new, innovative and relevant university courses.

Edmund S. Muskie Fellowship Program is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State.
The program provides opportunities for graduate students and professionals for one-year non-degree, one-year degree or two-year degree study in the United States.
Four fellows will receive longer fellowships, pursue doctoral studies, and receive a PhD. Eligible fields of study for the Muskie Program are: business administration, economics, education, environmental management, international affairs, journalism and mass communications, law, library and information science, public administration, public health, and public policy. No age limit for the program!

Opportunities at SUNY Plattsburgh University

Oxford and Cambridge Colleges Hospitality Schemes
Oxford and Cambridge universities, in conjunction with the Open Society Institute, offer one-month visiting program for scholars who wish to work in the universities' libraries or to contact academic specialists in their subjects. Scholars will normally be post-doctoral or of equivalent status and will be university teachers or members of research institutes.

The Eurasian Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) provides opportunities for current first-, second-, and third*-year undergraduate students (*in five-year programs) to spend one academic year of non-degree study in a US university or community college. Participants are selected through an open, merit-based competition. Fields of study for the UGRAD Program are accounting, agriculture, American studies, business, computer science, criminal justice, economics, education, environmental management, hospitality management, international relations, journalism and mass communication, law, political science, psychology, and sociology.

The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) Eurasia Program 2005 Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships Competition
A number of fellowships at both the predoctoral and postdoctoral levels are offered for the 2005-2006 academic year:

  1. 2005-06 Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships
    This program provides Academic-Year, Multi-Year, and Cultural scholarships to study abroad. Recipients are expected to be outstanding ambassadors of goodwill to the people of their host country through appearances before Rotary clubs and districts, civic organizations and other forums.
  2. 2005-07 Rotary World Peace Scholarships
    This program offers annually 70 Rotary World Peace Scholarships for two-year master degree or certificate programs in international relations, peace studies and conflict resolution at one of seven Rotary Centers for International Studies located at prestigious universities around the globe.
  3. 2005-06 Rotary Grants for University Teachers
    This program provides funding to faculty willing to share their expertise with students in developing nations.

Grant opportunities from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute
HHMI's International Research Scholars Program will award two five-year grants to support promising basic biomedical research scientists. These are:

The Network Scholarship Programs (NSP) is pleased to offer the 2004 Alumni Grant Program. It offers grants to NSP alumni to further expand the knowledge gained during their fellowship and make a positive contribution to their home country.
All proposals must be related to the Open Society Institute's mission of supporting educational, social, political and legal reform, and of encouraging alternative approaches to complex and controversial issues. Collaborative projects between alumni, across countries, with host universities are welcome.

Online registration for the Computer-based TOEFL and GRE General Tests
Online registration is now available internationally for the computer-based TOEFL and GRE General tests. The online registration service provides credit card processing and real time seat assignment. By the end of the registration session students will receive their test date, test center location, confirmation number, and confirmation that the credit card has been accepted.

Online registration for the TSE and paper-based TOEFL tests
Real time online registration and credit card processing will be available for the TSE and paper-based TOEFL tests in June. Online registration is currently available for these tests but it is not real time and students receive confirmation of their registration by mail.

CEU Curriculum Research Center is the Central European University's outreach program for Social Science teaching. Each session offers an intensive week-long period for syllabi review, library work and meetings with CEU professors, department/program heads and also offers the opportunity of attending CEU teaching sessions in the relevant discipline.

European Journalism Institute
The Fund for American Studies presents the European Journalism Institute (EJI) in Prague, Czech Republic on July 11-18, 2004.
FAS seeks both highly qualified journalists and students of journalism.
Selected candidates will receive a full scholarship and a honorarium of $100 USD.

The Lane Kirkland Scholarships in the 2004-2005 academic year.
The purpose of the Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program is to disseminate and transfer Polish experiences in the field of economic and political transformations, to neighboring countries of Central and Eastern Europe, within the framework of a two-semester supplementary study program in Polish schools of higher education, as well as, 2-4 week professional internships in state and private institutions.
