Airport "Borispol" today

Boryspil State International Airport is a company rendering services to airlines, passengers and other clients in aviation and non-aviation spheres of activity having ensured the regularity and safety of flights.

Strategic goals of the airport are:

  • Keeping the leading position of the main international airport of Ukraine
  • Constant increase of transit air traffic via the airport
  • Continuous increase of the number and quality of services for passengers
  • Continuous decrease of the harmful impact on environment

The aforementioned goals are realized by means of:

  • Management by the team of leaders, highly skilled managers
  • The complete satisfaction of passengers demands and requirements as well as forecast and implementation of their future expectations
  • Continuous monitoring of AVSEC standards and flight safety as well as other regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Complete meeting of environmental legislation requirements as well as requirements of local state environmental organizations and own instructions
  • Reasonable use of nature, energy resources and materials
  • Protection of the negative environmental impact, continuous monitoring and improvement of environmental indices
  • Provision of conditions for continuous training and professional upgrading of company's personnel
  • Systematic review of company's operation and as a result continuous improvement of all airport economic and financial activity.

Top management of the airport undertakes the following obligations:

  • To formulate quality and environment policy providing its understanding and deployment on all levels of the organization
  • To create the most favourable conditions and respect of each employee including the corresponding reward and remuneration for his/her conscientious work
  • To provide all necessary resources for implementation of the strategic goals
  • To provide effective operation and continuous improvement of integrated management system on the basis of meeting ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 standards in corpore.

Boryspil airport aims its activity in the following spheres: quality, profitability, self-financing, marketing, keeping the leading position in the economy of Ukraine.

The marketing policy is based on:

  • attraction of new airlines;
  • considerable extension and brisk up actions in non-aviation activity;
  • creation of international image and authority.

The airport processes are connected with preparation of flights. The peculiarity of these processes lies in the fact that they should be performed for a limited period of time with maximum provision of flight safety and quality of service.

Process management system comprises:

  • determination of their structure, breakdown for sub-processes and phases as well as people responsible for them;
  • development of regulating documents;
  • determination of the necessary resources;
  • organization of interaction between the processes;
  • determination of the indices of processes performance and their monitoring;
  • improvement of activity within the framework of the processes.

Activity within the framework of the processes and sub-processes is regulated by the standards, status on department, job descriptions, technologies, regulations and process charts. Apart from it deputy general directors individually determine the structure of other documents which regulate the activity of the corresponding departments. All the processes and technologies of their performance are constantly reviewed and improved.

The reasons for such improvements are the following:

  • passengers opinion, acquired by means of questionnaire;
  • taking into consideration the experience of the leading airports worldwide;
  • implementation of new sophisticated equipment;
  • participation in exhibitions, conferences, sharing the experience.

Currently Boryspil International airport accepts regular flights of 38 foreign and 32 Ukrainian airlines, handles about 10 000 passengers per 24 hours for departure and arrival (in summer this figure reaches 15 000 pax). In 2005 the airport handled 3 million 933 thousand passengers. Boryspil airport renders more than 50 different services. Apart from aviation activity the airport provides a complex of non-aviation services, namely:

  • rent of premises, space, equipment, property;
  • power and electricity supply to the airport facilities;
  • water supply to the airport facilities;
  • services on cargo storage at the airport warehouses;
  • handling of valuable cargo and many other services.

In order to assure the proper level of quality of services, business lounge for business class passengers and Terminal C for VIP passengers were built, two hotels were reconstructed, the most up-to-date equipment for passengers servicing, aircraft, cargo and baggage handling was installed.

In 2002 Quality Management System was introduced and certified according to ISO 9001:2000 standards in Boryspil Airport.

In 2004 Boryspil International airport introduced environmental management system according to ISO 14001:1996 international standard.

In 2005 these two systems were combined into an integrated management system which was certified according to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 standard requirements.
