Today protecting the health of mothers and children is a priority in the healthcare sphere throughout the world. Ukraine has done much for improving this sphere. However, our society needs to change its view on the financing of medicine. No country in the world, including the richest ones, finances its medicine from budget sources alone.

A modern high-quality healthcare system is impossible without, firstly, insurance medicine. It is precisely this kind of medicine that allows to perfect and modernize the healthcare system in a given country.

Secondly, modern medicine cannot exist without support from the private business, philanthropists, and the community.

Ukraine has rich traditions in charity, going as far back as to the Kyiv Rus’ period. However, it has been destroyed under the Soviets, when people were taught to think that all social problems are the responsibility of the state. Today we are restoring these traditions, demonstrating to the Ukrainians that even a single person can make a difference.

The Children’s Hospital of the Future’s estimated cost is UAH 600,000,000 ($120,000,000). A hospital constructed with this money can help thousands of Ukrainian children.

We invite all caring citizens to take part in creating the Children’s Hospital of the Future. Opening this unique medical facility will give our children hope and life. Today we are building a healthy future for our children with our own hands. Let us unite for the sake our children’s health.

To support the project, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund has carried on a promotional tour of all Ukraine’s oblast centers. Its goal was to present and raise funds for the project on creating and constructing the Children's Hospital of the Future in Kyiv. Representatives of the Fund, along with well-reputed politicians, businesspeople, public figures, television and show business stars, and other renowned Ukrainians, hold press conferences for the local mass media and presentations for the oblasts’ medical professionals and business circles.

The meetings with Ukraine’s leading experts in medicine, which took place in every oblast center, were aimed primarily at seeking advice from the doctors specializing in various fields of practical medicine. Their suggestions will be considered and taken into account while creating the design for the Children’s Hospital of the Future.

Besides, a memorandum on cooperation was signed as a part of the Children’s Hospital of the Future project between the Ukraine 3000 Fund and Ukraine’s leading television channels. The Memorandum was joined by M1, STB, K1, New Channel, Tonis, 24, NTKU, ICTV, Fifth Channel, TET, and Ukraine Television and Radio Company, November 1, 2006, a telethon to support the project started on these channels.
