The astronomy-lovers’ club «Astropolis» in Kiev
The
Kiev astronomy-lovers’ club “Astropolis” was founded in
the fall of 2000 and celebrated its fifth anniversary this year.
The astronomy-lovers’ club “Astropolis” brings
together astronomy-lovers and all the people, who care for the starry
sky. The club members hold meetings and organize observation expeditions
at a country resort Pilipovichi, take part in forums about astronomy,
and lead various activities aimed at popularizing astronomy in the
society. Telescope construction and astrophotography are other important
areas of the club’s activity.
The astronomy-lovers’ club “Astropolis” develops
actively; the club constantly gets better equipment: for example,
today the club owns a 150 mm refractor set on a country station.
Also, the club members possess a number of excellent instruments
with up to 350 mm lenses.
