The International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz is ten of age. The Competition was founded in the native city of genius pianist, beautiful ancient Kyiv. It is from Kyiv, in the early twenties of XX century, after graduation from Kyiv Music College and Conservatory, the great musician's long and brilliant artistic path began. Since the foundation (1994), six competitions in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005 were carried out. More than 670 young musicians from 27 countries all over the world took part in them. The specificity and originality of current competition consist in the following principle: competition is held in three age categories that gives the opportunity to follow up the development of performer from the primary stage of education (9 years old) to the forming of mature performer ( 33 years old). Its authority is confirmed by high professional level of participants, competence of jury, which members are famous musicians, and certainly, recognition of genius of Vladimir Horowitz, great Maestro of XXth century. The Competition is a member of the European Union of International Music Competitions for Youth(2002) and member of the World Wederation of International Music Competitions (2004). The Competition became the beginning of successful creative biography for many young musicians. Laureates and diploma winners of the Competition performed successfully with solo concerts in prestigious halls of Europe, America, Asia and Australia with well-known Symphonic Orchestra in numerous International Music Festivals. The VI International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz discovered new names of gifted performers who worthy presented different piano schools of the world.
