Visit of representatives of Ukrainian media to Brussels

Each year the Delegation's Press and Information Programme gives Ukrainian journalists a unique chance to visit the EU institutions in Brussels. The objective of the project is to help Ukrainian media to develop professional contacts and to gain first-hand information about the EU institutions and EU-Ukraine relations.

In the run-up to the visit the journalists undergo a preparatory seminar in Kyiv, during which they meet with representatives of the EU embassies in Kyiv, think tanks and government officials to discuss various issues related to the European Union and its relation to Ukraine.

The programme of the previous press visits to Brussels included meetings with representatives of various Directorates (External Relations, Enlargement, Press, Trade, Environment, Agriculture), spokespersons of Commissioners and the High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy, visits to the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers, participation in the daily press conference of the Commission, meeting with the International Federation of Journalists and a meeting with Ambassador of Ukraine to the EU.

Among the topics discussed were: Enlargement and its consequences for Ukraine, the European Neighbourhood Policy, the EU-Ukraine political, trade and economic co-operation, the EU financial assistance to Ukraine, the Convention and many more. One reoccurring topic in the numerous discussions in Kyiv and in Brussels was the role of the Ukrainian national and regional media outlets in providing the Ukrainian population with sufficient information about the European Integration.

Press visits to Brussels take place each year. The information about the upcoming visits is published on the website of the Delegation.

Until today more than 40 journalists from national and regional Ukrainian media participated in the programme:
