Pluron is a Silicon Valley startup working on a hosted productivity application for software development teams. This job is with our R&D group in Ukraine in Kiev or Nikolayev. We will consider qualified candidates elsewhere.

We are looking for an exceptional front-end web developer to join our team building hosted web applications using Ruby on Rails. This is a cross-functional role lying between hard-core software development and web design, and we will consider motivated candidates from all parts of this spectrum.

The ideal candidate will have created multiple good-looking and highly usable web sites and applications. He/she will be a master of HTML, CSS, JavaScript/AJAX and will be able to create professional interfaces using this medium. He/she will strive to comply with web standards. He will will be an advocate for the user, understanding user’s needs and improving usability. He/she will work with the engineers and the product manager to achieve appropriate compromise between the looks, functionality and code complexity.

Qualifications (several are desirable, NOT all are required)

• Appreciation of usability and functional beauty
• Commitment to comply with web standards where appropriate
• Excellent English
• Superb ability to write prose in any language
• Extensive experience developing web applications
• Extensive experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript/AJAX
• Experience with prototype.js, script.aculo.us or other JavaScript libraries
• Ability to create designs that are professional, functional and great looking
• Experience designing/developing interactive web applications
• Experience with several programming languages
• Active participation in open-source projects, mailing lists, blogs
• HCI/industrial design/art background
