[index.html] Партнеры Чемпионата бариста: UKRAINIAN BARISTA CHAMPIONSHIP 2006 On November, 8-9, 2006 within the framework of exhibition "Restaurant Expo Ukraine 2006" the Ukrainian Barista Championship 2006 took place. An event which for the third year already is the main coffee festa in Ukraine was guided by the Ukrainian Chapter of the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) and World Barista Championships International Committee. The Championship had the International and official status. The participants traditionally were barista - individual or presented by coffee companies, restaurant networks and associations of barmen which were competing for the title of the best in the coffee art. Championship passed in two stages: a semifinal which took a place 8th November and 9th November - six finalists was striven for the rank of the best in the art of coffee preparation. To become the Champion, participants had to prepare 4 espresso, 4 cappuccino and 4 signature drink (no alcohol and on the espresso basis) during 15 minutes. Prize places were distributed as follows: 1st place - Ruslan Yakubov, coffee shop "KOFEIN" (Kharkov) 2d place - Alexander Lugovskoy, coffee shop "O`Delis" (Kiev) 3d place - Aliona Chernova, club "Khali-Gali" (Odessa) A winner of Championship - Ruslan Yakubov - will officially represent Ukraine on the World Barista Championship, which will take place in Tokyo (Japan) of July 31 - August 2 of 2007. The "stars" of international class entered judges team for final were: Tone Liavaag (Norway) - Head of World Barista Championship Committee Trygve Klingenberg (Norway) - SCAE Director for International development Hasse Axelsson (Sweden) - Vice-President of Swedish Coffee Association Steffen Schwarz (Germany) - SCAE Coordinator in Germany, SCAE Board member Vincenzo Sandalj (Italy) - former SCAE president Tatyana Lukhminskaya (Russia) - International judge of the WBC Alf Kramer (Norway) - SCAE Creative Director Marchella Ruzu (Romania) - Romanian Barista Champion This year Championship was decorated by the performance of coffee jazz-bend "IONIA", by the exhibition of painted by espresso pictures (by Karen Eland (USA)) and by a coffee photo-exhibition. Coffee guru Vincenzo Sandalj presented his new book "Coffee. A celebration of diversity". First time extraordinarily interesting Cup Tasting championship was held. The Ukrainian Cup Tasting Champion became Aliona Sereda from Odessa with a fantastic result in the final - 8 cups out of 8!
