OFFERS The Department offers ready developments, scientific and technical cooperation in the field of new power- and resource-saving technologies, regional ecology, etc.; it is looking for partners and investors for the implementation of promising technologies and introduction of new technical facilities. DONETSK REGION The Donetsk area of Ukraine which includes the Donetsk and Lugansk regions has unique natural resources, convenient geographical location, powerful industrial potential and high level of science. The area is rich with enterprises of coal mining, metallurgical, machine building, chemical, power engineering industries, etc.. Also, the area has well-developed agriculture and processing industry. Various kinds of transportation, including Mariupol Sea Port and international airports, ensure foreign economic connections with many countries of the world. Due to the Law of Ukraine "About Special Economic Zones and Special Regime of Investment Activities in the Donetsk Region" adopted in 1998 and envisaging significant tax privileges and stability of economic-and-law mechanism within 30-60 years favorable investment conditions had been created in the Donetsk region. MAIN TASKS OF THE DEPARTMENT organization of doing scientific research, including scientific and technical expertize; creation, support and follow-up of new power-and resource-saving technologies as well as of information technologies; participation in the solution of scientific and technical problems of reconstruction and technical re-equipment of the working enterprises on the basis of progressive and ecologically safe developments and technologies; assistance in training a new generation of scientists and specialists, and organization of inter-sectoral, inter-regional and international connections. ABOUT US The Donetsk Regional Department had been formed by the decision of the Presidium of the Academy of Technological Science of Ukraine on May 26, 1994. At present 18 Academicians and Corresponding-Members, 18 academicians-probationers working in prestigious research institutes, in large higher educational institutions and at enterprises of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions are the members of the Department. Among the members of the Department there are 15 Doctors of Science, 3 Corresponding Members of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine. The Department incorporates more than 20 collective members. The Department is forming a bank of crucial technologies for the Donetsk area (about 100 projects), accumulates inventions, as well as authors' suggestions ready for practical use. A number of business proposals had been worked out for the projects that are most likely to be implemented. The Department does active work for solving environmental problems of the Donbas. The Department is the founder of new large organizations, including: JSC DANKO, "Industrial Union of the Donbas" widely using modern technologies, and a number of specialized organizations such as scientific-and-technical center "Ekometall". The Department became one of the founders of the Limited Liability Company "Center of Economic Development of the Territory" that had been created for coordinating and managing the work in free economic zone "Azov" and in the territory of priority development in Mariupol city. Under the Department a self-sustained Center "New Technologies" had been formed with the purpose of introducing new technologies and advanced developments on commercial basis. The Department is a part of the Donetsk Chamber of Commerce, of the Donetsk regional branch of the Ukrainian Union of industrialists and entrepreneurs, the Donetsk regional association of the Heads of enterprises. The Department has a bank of highly-qualified experts (more than 150 people) and already started the work for scientific and technical expertise of the projects to be implemented within the framework of the Ukrainian law "About special economic zones and special regime of investment activities in the Donetsk region" adopted in 1998. SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATION The members of the Department published in Ukraine and abroad about 3600 papers including more than 80 monographs and text-books, electronic also, and they have about 650 patents.
