November 1998 – Program Series, "Protect Your Rights"

Television talk-show, devoted to the rights of Ukrainian women, in which the deputy of the Supreme Council of Ukraine took part

10 seminars, including four three-day seminars entitled, “Create Your Own Business” and one together with “Know-How”, devoted to the problems of finding a job in the districts of the Donetsk region, which suffered as a result of the restructuring of the coal industry. ( The seminar “Create Your Own Business” resulted in several of the participants starting their own businesses. Now they are members of “Alliance” and permanent clients of legal consultation.)

=1999=

In March of 1999, “Alliance” organized legal and psychological consultations through the Dutch fund “Mama Cash.” In the three months following the opening day of the consultation, legal and psychological help was received by 396 clients.

In April of 1999, “Alliance” conducted a series of training for young men and women on practices for the promotion of trade in food products, after which they were taken on by the company Kraft Jacobs Sushard of Ukraine as promoters.

At the end of June 1999, “Alliance” organized and conducted 7 full day seminars on the topics of a youth press, youth entrepreneurship, and practices for the conducting of business and ecology. These seminars were carried out within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Festival in support of local producers, “You are not Alone.”

Together with the faculty of International Economics at Donetsk State University, “Alliance” organized an international summer school ( from the 3rd to 17th of July in Slavyanogorsk, Donetsk Province), where more than 80 students of the university learned practices for conducting business by international standards.

With regards to seminar materials and research, around 1500 copies of brochures were produced. The names of the brochures were: “The Ukrainian Woman in Transition: Chances and Risks”, “Development of Women’s Entrepreneurship”, “Economic Security for Entrepreneurs”, and “Business Planning for Attracting Investment.”

On the 12th of November, “Alliance” started its own project – a consultative-information centre for social organizations.

From August to September 1999, “Alliance” worked to bring to life the public-awareness educational project, “Youth for Free Elections and Democracy”. The action was carried out with the support of the House of Freedom and the Canadian Embassy in Ukraine. In total, more than 250,000 young voters in the Donetsk province were included in the project. In the course of the project’s realization, the following took place:

  • 24 radio programs
  • Six seminars
  • 24 actions by the mobile agitational brigades
  • A “hot line” was in service

=2000=

From February to May 2000, research was conducted at the University of Memphis, USA, through the program IREX, entitled “Development of Leadership Potential and Entrepreneurship in the Post-communist Period.”

Starting in April 2000, work was carried out on a collaborative project with the American social organization “Independent Means Inc.” – “Let’s Study Entrepreneurship” – for young entrepreneurs.

Starting in April 2000, the project “School of the Young Leader” was developed in collaboration with the leadership academy at the University of Maryland, USA.

In June of 2000, collaborative work got under way with the worldwide youth coalition “Action”, with “Alliance” becoming the organization responsible for the work of the coalition in the Eastern European Region.

From October 2000 to July 2001, the project “City School of Leaders” was brought to life for leaders of youth organizations. In the course of the project’s realization, the following took place:

  • 578 hours of lessons and training were completed
  • Trainers created author’s publications and role playing games for 14 lessons and training sessions
  • Released 10 issues of the newspaper “To Fly” ( Approximate total circulation – 24,600 copies)
  • An Internship was organized for future leaders in the Municipal Council
  • A social project’s contest “My City” was held for schoolchildren. In total, there were 80 projects presented in the contest on problems relevant to the youth of Donetsk.

The project was recognized as so successful and socially relevant that the Donetsk Historical Museum approached “Alliance” with a request for the materials relating to the Leaders School at Alliance to be given to them for the organization of a permanent exhibition.

=2001=

Starting in May 2001, “Alliance” worked on the “Women’s Support Centre” project, the component parts of which are:

  • Leader’s school for women’s organizations
  • Seminars and training for unemployed women
  • Seminars and training for women who would like to start their own business
  • Consultative centre on the questions of budgeting, taxation, accounting, and legal matters
  • 2 newspapers – one for leaders of women’s social organizations, another for unemployed women
  • Creation of a website with a database of women’s social organizations in the Donetsk and Lugansk provinces

From October 2001 to July 2002, “Alliance” brought to life the project “Development of Youth Entrepreneurship for the Prosperity of Ukraine” with the support of the project “Harmony”. Results of the project were:

  • Developed and provided training for 150 participants
  • Published 5 brochures on methodology
  • Printed 5 issues of a newspaper with a general circulation of approximately 5000 copies in total

=2002=

From January to March 2002 we brought to life a pre-election project for students of the Donetsk region. As a consequence of the project:

  • 480 students from Donetsk technical schools and colleges received knowledge on civic responsibilities and democratic practices at seminars
  • 1440 young people arrived at electoral stations thanks to the work of the agitational brigades
  • 9600 students found answers to questions on elections in the newspaper “Your Election”

From June to October 2002, “Alliance” worked on a project which was aimed at increasing the maturity of the social organizations of the region. As a result of the project, a series of seminars were held and a web site was launched containing legal documents. As of today, we have received many letters from organizations which have benefited from the materials on the site.

=2003=

From October 2003 to January 2004, through the support of the Ukrainian government’s fund for the support of entrepreneurship in the framework of the program “Realization of Projects Promoting Small Scale Entrepreneurship Amongst the Less Well-off Segments of Society ( Women, Youth, and Unemployed )”, came the realization of the project “Conducting Research, Creating Web-pages, Training, Conducting Seminars, Round Tables, and Conferences.” During the realization of the project the following took place:

  • Research was conducted on the status of women’s unemployment and the perspectives for development of women’s entrepreneurship in the Donbass area
  • A web page was developed as a resource for beginner female entrepreneurs
  • A regional round table was held entitled “Perspectives for Women’s and Family’s Entrepreneurship in Donbass”
  • 2 seminars and 2 training sessions were held for more than 100 beginner entrepreneurs in Donbass

Starting in October 2003, with the support of the Institute of Sustainable Communities (USA) with financing from USAID, “Alliance” received funding for the conducting of three day training sessions for social organizations entitled “Financial Management.” In total, there were 24 training sessions held in Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporojk, and Dnieperopetrovsk regions.

Starting in October 2003, “Alliance” worked together with the project BIZPRO on the program “Business-Partners”, which is financed by USAID. In the framework of the program, “Alliance” held an information-consultative series of seminars for beginner entrepreneurs in small towns in the Donetsk region.

Starting in November 2003, with the support of the Canadian Ukrainian Gender fund, “Alliance” brought to life the project “Dialogue”, directed at the development of family entrepreneurship and economic support of young families. In the framework of the project, seminars and training sessions were conducted for young families who wanted to start their own business. As well, textbooks and literature on methodology were published for distribution in employment centers and municipal offices working with youth in the Donetsk region.

=2004=

In August 2004, the president of the “Alliance” organization was awarded with the order of Saint Sofia for “a personal contribution to the revival of national science, culture, and spirituality.”

From September through February 2004, “Alliance” developed a scientific plan and conducted training for 10 multipliers on non-medical supervision of the sick with the support of the German fund “Donetsk-Bohum Freundenkreise”

From October 2004 to January 2005, a cycle of 12 training sessions entitled “The Planning of Your Career” for schoolchildren and students was held with the support of the fund “Gesellschaft fuer Technische Zusammenarbeit.”

=2005=

Starting in May 2005, the project “Dialogue” got funded by the Ministry of Youth and Family Affairs of the Donetsk regional administration with the goal of spreading work training projects throughout the territory of Donetsk province. To date, there have been 48 clubs created for young families in practically all cities and suburbs of the Donetsk region.

Starting from June 2005, “Alliance” presented to the regional partner of the “East-West AIDS Fund” in the process of conducting an information campaign within the framework of the program “Overcoming the HIV/AIDS Epidemic in Ukraine.”

=2006=

C äåêàáðÿ 2005 ïî ôåâðàëü 2006 ïðè ïîääåðæêå Êàíàäñêîãî ôîíäà ìåñòíûõ èíèöèàòèâ «Àëüÿíñ» ðàáîòàë íàä ñîçäàíèåì ñåòè èíôîðìàöèîííî-îáðàçîâàòåëüíûõ öåíòðîâ â ìàëûõ ãîðîäàõ Äîíåöêîé îáëàñòè.  ðàìêàõ ïðîåêòà áûëè îáó÷åíû ñîòðóäíèêè 20 èíôîðìàöèîííî-îáðàçîâàòåëüíûõ öåíòðîâ íàâûêàì ïðîâåäåíèÿ òðåíèíãîâ è èíôîðìàöèîííûõ ïðîãðàìì, êîòîðûå, â ñâîþ î÷åðåäü, ïðîâåëè 10 ìèíè-ñåìèíàðîâ è îðãàíèçîâàëè 10 âûñòàâîê ëèòåðàòóðû ïî ïðàâàì ÷åëîâåêà äëÿ ìîëîäåæè. Òàêæå áûë èçäàí èíôîðìàöèîííûé ñïðàâî÷íèê ïî ïðàâàì ÷åëîâåêà äëÿ ìîëîäåæè òèðàæîì 500 ýêçåìïëÿðîâ.

«Ó÷èìñÿ äåìîêðàòèè» - ïîä òàêèì íàçâàíèåì â Äîíåöêîé îáëàñòè ñ ôåâðàëÿ ïî àïðåëü 2006 ã. ïðîâîäèëñÿ ìîáèëèçàöèîííî-îáðàçîâàòåëüíûé ïðåäâûáîðíûé ïðîåêò, öåëü êîòîðîãî áûëà ïîìî÷ü ìîëîäåæè ñòàòü áîëåå âëèÿòåëüíîé è îòâåòñòâåííîé ñèëîé â îáùåñòâå, îñíîâàííîì íà äåìîêðàòèè è ðûíî÷íîé ýêîíîìèêå, îñëàáèòü âëèÿíèå àäìèíèñòðàòèâíîãî ðåñóðñà íà ìîëîäîé ýëåêòîðàò, ñîäåéñòâîâàòü ðàñïðîñòðàíåíèþ ïðàâäèâîé èíôîðìàöèè îá èçáèðàòåëüíîì ïðîöåññå. Äåÿòåëüíîñòüþ ïðîåêòà, êîòîðàÿ âêëþ÷àëà â ñåáÿ òðåíèíãè, ñåìèíàðû, êðóãëûå ñòîëû, îðãàíèçàöèþ âûñòàâîê è ðàñïðîñòðàíåíèå ïå÷àòíûõ ìàòåðèàëîâ ïî âûáîðíîé òåìàòèêå, áûëî îõâà÷åíî áîëåå 10 000 ìîëîäûõ èçáèðàòåëåé Äîíåöêîé îáëàñòè.
