Ukrainian Bar Association for Foreign Affairs - Ostarbeiters
[index.html] The payment of compensations to the victims of forced/slave labourers pursuant to the German Legislation has finally started. Ukrainian Bar Association for Foreign Affairs took active part in accelerating the payments to the thousands of Ukrainians whose lives had been ruined by fascism. For five years UKRINIURKOLEGUIA was representing hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian Ostarbeiters at the same time actively participating in all stages of negotiation process as to forced and slave labour compensations and representing the interests of numerous claimants at its own expense. Due to the efforts of UKRINIURKOLEGUIA the issue of compensation payments was given more complete and objective coverage in mass media, which made for solving legislative problems in Austria and Germany. Persistent cooperation with numerous archives enabled thousands of applicants, forced and slave labourers, ghetto survivors and their relatives prove their eligibility to compensations. Having completely undertaken the processing of thousands of applications UKRINIURKOLEGUIA managed to create a vast data base to be further implemented by its foreign partners: German lawyer Peter-Jochen Kruse and American lawyers Peter Rabinovich and Myroslaw Smorodsky, whose devoted efforts on the way to the final result shall not be questioned. With the participation of UKRINIURKOLEGUIA's lawyers Peter-Jochen Kruse, Peter Rabinovich and Myroslaw Smorodsky filed numerous suits to respectfully German and US courts, all doing their best that thousands of Ukrainian nationals who sustained suffers of the slave labour might receive their due at least at the twilight of their life. Today there are over 600,000 former Ostarbeiters living in Ukraine.
