The ICPS forecast is for real GDP to grow 5.5% in 2006, 4.6% in 2007 and 5% in 2008. Growth will deviate from the overall trend the most in 2007 as private consumption slows down, because of slower growth in disposable incomes. More State aid in Ukraine: Compliance with international standards = effectiveness As a country likely to accede to the WTO next year, Ukraine needs to comply with international standards for the provision of state aid. Expanded bilateral economic relations between Ukraine and the EU also mean changes in the country’s antimonopoly policies. Ukraine’s policies for providing state aid have needed a rethink for a long time. More Readmission: Fulfilling the future treaty will require reforms At the next Ukraine–EU Summit in October, Kyiv and Brussels are expected to sign the Readmission Treaty and the Agreement on the Facilitation of the Issuance of Visas. The latter will simplify the procedure for obtaining Schengen visas for all Ukrainian citizens, while some groups will be eligible to obtain free long-term, multi-entry visas.
