Diddles in Ukraine :: Sept 25

[] Diddles in Ukraine Tuesday | September 26, 2006 Sept 25 September 25 th Today in our hearts there is happiness and sorrow. Happiness because we were given permission to see our son, sadness because we were not allowed to see the boy we thought would be our second son. The interview was today at 1500L. We went and meet with the adoption agency. Although the family ahead of us left at 1445L, we were still required to wait until 1500L Promptly at 1500L, the receptionist came to the door and invited Nadine and I into the office. We sat in the office around a small table as the department psychologist asked us questions. Questions were proof of identification and how did we get to know Zhenya. Then when we approached them about Dimetrio, we were told they did not have the paperwork or research. After persuasion, they found the paperwork, Sadly, Dimetrio has 1 brother and 3 sisters, and the legislation in Ukraine will not authorize separation of children. Needless to say we are broken hearted. The agency attempted to show us photos and paperwork of other children. Two were healthy; the other 5 had health problems. We will look at one other 9 year old that is at the same school as Zhenya. We are off to get dinner. The plan is tomorrow at 1700L we will get the paperwork to allow us to go to the orphanage to see Zhenya and Ruslan. We will now travel on Wednesday (350 KIM) to the orphanage. We are thankful that we can help at least Zhenya. Someone, who is willing to adopt 5 children, will have to help Dimetrio, unless a miracle comes our way.
