The most widespread hobby is collecting. I can't say that I'm really mad about this or that kind of leisure activity. I tried collecting stamps, they are so nice & informative. But gradually my interest just faded away, & I gave my collection to my friend for his birthday. Then I moved on to collecting recordings of the pop groups I liked, but after a while it seemed pointless because music radio stations play old & new hits all the time. I go on doing it, but I wouldn't call it a hobby. I like dancing at some club or disco, but it's just a way of spending time, not a hobby really. Best of all I like reading. It's a very quiet occupation, & it does not require any particular skill or ability. But that's what gives me the greatest pleasure. I enjoy reading all kinds of books - historical novels, travelogues, biographies, novels, science fiction, detective stories, poetry, etc. Someone said that reading to the mind is what exercise is to the body. Books can't be replaced by all the mass media in the world. Reading is a perfect combination of business & pleasure, of intellectual work & entertainment. So, frankly speaking reading is my hobby. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hobbies. Everyone has spare time. The time when person can do everything he/she likes or interested in. Some people prefer to spend their free time sleepping at home, watching TV or listening to the radio. Another like hiking ,travelling, getting with friends, visited galleries, cinemas or gathering something. The things which people like to do in their spare time are called Hobbies. Hobbies can be different. They are divided in to 2 sorts. The first it is when person prefer doing something for example watching TV or travailing The second hobby is gathering marks corns audio or video cassettes. As for me I like to gathering audio cassettes. I get a lot of pleasure Gathering cassette with music which I like. I relax then I listen music, not all certainly. Also it is interesting for me to go travel & walk with my friends often visited new places & it is very exiting. We like to visited concerts & listen to our favourite music Also I interested in computers. I like to play computer games, make programmes, but most of all I enjoy Internet. Every weekend I spend a lot of time in Chats programmes in Internet where people from all over the world meet & talk about news, music ,books & many other interesting things. Some times hobby became a profession. For example I have a friend, his hobby is music & he wants to be a pianist. For all people hobby is something which relax & entertain them. They help people to have a rest. Without hobbies lives of many people will be dale & uniform. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hobbies. Hobby is what a person likes to do in his spare time. Hobbies differ like tastes. If you have chosen a hobby according to your character and taste you are lucky because your life becomes more interesting. The most popular hobby is doing things. It includes a wide variety of activities from gardening to traveling, from chess to volleyball. Both grown-ups and children are fond of playing different computer games. This hobby is becoming more and more popular. Making things include drawing, painting, handicrafts. Many people collect something - coins, stamps, compact discs, toys, books. Some collections have some value. Rich people often collect paintings, rare things and other art objects. Often such private collections are given to museums, libraries. As for me, I like to listen to music. I have a CD Man. I like different music, it should be good. I collect discs of my favourite groups and singers. I carefully study the information printed on disk-booklets. I try to find everything about my favourite singers. Also I like to watch music programs on TV. I want to keep up with the news in the world of music. Of course, I like to spend my spare time with my friends. We talk about all sorts of things ( politics, teachers, girls). We discuss films, books, TV programs. In fine weather we like to be in the open air. We find a nice place somewhere in the forest. We make a fire, bake potatoes and have a lot of fun. When the weather is bad, my friends come to my place. If you have chosen a hobby according to your character and taste - you are lucky because your life becomes more interesting. Hobbies are divided into four large classes : doing things, making things, collecting things, and learning things. The most popular of all hobby groups is doing things. It includes a wide variety of activities, everything from gardening to traveling and from chess to volleyball. Gardening is one of the oldest man's hobbies. It is well-know fact that the English are very found of gardening and growing flowers, especially roses. Both grown-ups and children are found of playing different computer games. This is a relatively new hobby but it is becoming more and more popular. Making thing includes drawing, painting, making sculpture, designing costumes, handicrafts and others. Two of the most famous hobby painters were President Eisenhower and Sir Winston Churchill. Some hobbyists write music or play musical instruments. President Bill Clinton, for example, plays on the saxophone. Almost everyone collects something at some period in his life : stamps, coins, matchboxes, books, records, postcards, toys, watches and other things. Some collection have not real value. Others become so large and so valuable that they are housed in museums and art galleries. Many world famous collections started in a small way with one or two items . People with a good deal of money often collect paintings, rare books and other art object. Often such private collections are given to museums, libraries and public galleries so that others might take pleasure in seeing them. No matter what kind of hobby a person has, he always has the opportunity of learning from it. By reading about the things he is interested in, he is adding to what he knows. Learning thing can be the most exciting aspect of a hobby. So I think that everyone should have a hobby, it is liked the target of your life. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hobbies. People live a very busy life nowadays, so they have little time to spare. Still they try their best to make use of those rare hours of leisure. A hobby is a favorite pastime of a person. Hobbies differ like tastes. Peoples choose their hobbies according to their taste and character. Someone likes simply to watch TV, lying on a sofa, when someone climbs to the mountains. If you have chosen a hobby to your liking, lucky you are: you have made your life more interesting. But many people have nothing to do during their spare time, though there are many different hobbies: reading, collecting, going in for sports, traveling and others. If a person collects something, he does it according to his financial abilities: someone collects cars or pictures of world-known painters, while another one collects beer cans or stamps. But no matter what they collect, it gives them pleasure. Many collections started in a small way with one or two items. Some private collections are really valuable. No matter what kind of hobby a person has, he always has an opportunity of learning from it. Some young people find it a pleasure to go to the theatre. The theatre is one of the most ancient kinds of art. For centuries people have come to the theatre for the different aims: to relax, to be amazed or entertained, to have a good laugh, to enjoy the acting of their favorite actors and actresses. Modern life is impossible without traveling. Many people travel by rail, by air, by sea or by road for pleasure. I don't like to read very much, but I think, that it's the most useful pastime. If a person likes to read, he can take many useful information and life experience from the books. By reading about the things, a hobbyist is interested in, he is adding to what he knows. A relatively new hobby is watching TV. But I don't think that television is a hobby at all. As for me, it's the way of getting information. There are two viewpoints on television. Some people think that TV is going a lot of harm. People begin to forget how to occupy their free time. It prevents them from communicating with each other, from visiting friends or relatives. And indeed, people are used to have hobbies, to go outside for amusements, to the theatres, cinemas, sporting events. They are used to read books and listen to music. But TV gives wonderful possibilities for getting information, for education. TV brings world in our rooms. Computers are a new hobby too. Many young people all over the world like to sit glued to the monitor all day long, playing their favorite computer games. As for me, the first hobby, I had in childhood, when I was 5 or 6 years old, was collecting pictures from the bubble gums. Later on, when I was 8, I collected beer cans. Afterwards, my grandma had thrown them away, 'cause they occupied a lot of space. And now I'm interested in cars. I always read all available magazines about the cars, 'cause I want to know everything about their construction and production. Also I like to listen to music, especially heavy metal. Some people think that it is impossible to listen such music and they call metal fans "headbangers" or "metalheads", but I don't care. And, of course, like all teenagers, I like to work with computer, watch video and to go in for sports. So as you can see there are a lot of things to do during your free time.
