Estonia - More hotels in Tallinn By 2008, Tallinn will have 2,000 new hotel rooms in addition to the current 5,300. Donald Visnapuu, executive director of the Estonian Hotels and Restaurants Association, says that demand is high in summer and there are too few hotel rooms. In the next two years, four hotels with nearly 200 rooms each will rise in Tallinn, plus some smaller hotels. The construction company Rand and Tuulberg will build a 4-star hotel with 185 rooms on Ahtri Street at a cost of more than EEK 200 million (EUR 12.8 million), which should be completed by spring next year. Lemminkainen Eesti wants to complete a 239-room hotel by next spring. The chain Nordic Hotel is planning to build a 4-star hotel, Forum, with 270 rooms near the Viru Hotel in the city centre. The cost of construction will be EEK 238 million and the doors are planned to open next summer. The Tallink Spa Ekspress with 290 rooms is due to open in Tallinn Harbour in December, at a full cost of EEK 450 million, while the 80-room luxury Hotel Telegraaf is being built in the Old Town on Vene Street, due to open this autumn.
