On 29 September 2006 Mr. Francis M. O’Donnell, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative to Ukraine met with the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Mr. Mykola Azarov.

Cooperation of UNDP project “Human security for Ukrainian youth” with youth groups, representatives of authorities, organizations of local self-governance and Ukrainian NGOs has proved to be effective in terms of creating network of youth centers.

On 26-27 September, 2006, the Meeting of the Heads of Customs Services of the Black Sea region countries took place in the central office of the State Customs Service of Ukraine the purpose of the meeting was to reach agreement on creating an international system of information exchange between customs bodies of the Black Sea ports, which should improve efficiency of the fight against smuggling, first of all against drugs trafficking.

On 21 September 2006 the Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on human rights, national minorities and interethnic relations in cooperation with UNDP Equal Opportunities Programme and Parliamentary Development Programme of Indiana University conducted a round table “Annual anniversary of adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On guaranteeing equal rights for women and men”: realities of implementation, problems, perspectives”.

‘Millennium Development Goals – Ukraine’ Project (MDGP) jointly with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine (MoE), Luhansk City Council and Luhansk NGOs conducted the Public Hearing “Millennium Development Goals – Luhansk” and a series of round tables on the MDGs which were developed for Luhansk oblast under support of the Department for International Development (DFID).
