What is an automobile load carrier? The automobile load carrier is a construction which is established on the roof of the car and consist of the following components: - Bars - Foot packs - Motage kit (necessary for some roof types of the car) - Locks How to define the type of a car roof? There are the next types of the car roof: - Normal roofs - on the roof of such cars there are no any fixpoints. For such kind of cars there is the construction of the load carrier with the use of individual montage kit for mounting the foot packs on the car roof. - with Roof rails - as a rule, it is off-road car or minivan or universal. Special foot packs are mounted on the rails of all forms. - with T-tracks - along the roof of such car the T-tracks pass. Needs the mounting of special foot packs and montage kits. - with built-in Fixpoints - the producer of car provide beforehand the places for mounting of load carrier. The cpecial foot packs are selected according to the model of car. - with Rain gutters - along the roof of such car the rain gutters pass, the cpecial foot packs are mounted in these rain gutters. What is the difference between the square bars and aero bars? - the square bars are made from highly elastic steel and covered with black thermoplastic; - the aero bars have an oval section which considerably reduces the resistance to air streams. The aero bars are of silvery color (are executed from an aluminium alloy) and have more convenient system of accessories mounting. Can the load carrier damage the car in the places of its mounting? All foot packs of load carrier which adjoin with the body of car have the rubber layer pads; the metal surfaces of the components are covered with black-matte polymeric membranula, which provide the complete protection. For the cars with rain gutters and "normal roof" - the places of load carrier mounting have to be carefully wiped to exclude the hit of sand and dirty between the body of the car and mounting components. Obligatorily observe the recommended load. What weight of load is the maximal for the load carrier? The system is calculated on the on the maximal load 100 kg. Attention! Pay attention to the recomendation of the car producers about the loading on the roof of the car. In the fitting instruction for the montage kit the maximal allowable loading on the roof of the car is specified. Will it be possible to close the door after the mounting of load carrier? If the load carrier has to be mounted to the car with the "normal roof", You must use the montage kit. It have to be fixed behind the bend of the roof and covered with the door of the car. In this case the montage kit has the exact form of the roof bend on which it must be mounted and doesn't prevent the door to close. How to choose the box correctly? Look the heading "Important info" . What is One-Key-System? One-Key-System allows to use the same one key to simultaneous closing of load carrier, accessories and box. You only need to buy the complete set of locks with the necessary quantity of cilinders. Is it necessary to buy a new load carrier if I change my car? THULE car rack system allows to change the construction of load carrier by changing its components. For example: VW Passat Sedan '93 was changed to VW Golf IV '01(the cars with the same type of roof). In this case it is enough to change the montage kit and the load carrier will be ready to operation. What tools I need to mount the load carrier? In the majority of cases the mounting of load carrier is made without any tools.
