It is a non-profit non-governmental organization. The ILC has been created by a group of professionals determined to disseminate awareness of international law among law students, legal experts and the entire Ukrainian society. Since September 2001 the International Law Centre has been functioning on the base of the Moot Court Room of Kyiv International University. It has been also closely cooperating with the International and Comparative Law Department as well as with International relations and Law faculties. Starting from October 2004 the International Law Centre has been granted a status of Kyiv Non-Governmental Organization which is aimed at: promoting the progressive development of international law, realizing the rule-of-law society policy in the state, civil and citizen lives, contributing to the establishment of the rule-of-law state and civil society, encouraging the development of legal thinking among subjects of law and promoting legal profession, ensuring and protecting the rights and legal interests of the members of the Centre. To those ends, the International Law Centre cooperates with national and foreign civil organizations and international non-governmental organizations; arranges and develops cooperation with international organizations, embassies of foreign states to Ukraine, funds, programs and other enterprises, institutions and organizations, if such cooperation contributes to the attainment of the aims of the Centre; establishes close relations with the national and foreign higher education establishments and science institutions dealing with researches in the sphere of international law; encourages the organization and introduction of means contributing to the improvement of legal education, promoting legal profession and raising the level of lawyers' skills; elaborates and enforces exchange programs and internships abroad for legal professionals; participates in the drafting process of the legal acts; organizes and conducts expertise of the international legal acts, draft laws, programs, decisions and other documents and normative acts; promotes the dissemination of law awareness among the population; organizes and gives lectures, seminars, trainings, conferences and other events of informative and education character; elaborates and enforces the legal aid programs involving the members of the Centre; represents and protects professional and other common interests provided for in the legislation before the Central and Local authorities of Ukraine, other governmental and non-governmental institutions and organizations; elaborates ethic standards for the members' behavior and monitors their observance; renders the methodological and information assistance to the members of the Centre; contributes the employment of legal professionals; encourages the professional and personal growth of lawyers; organizes and convenes legal researches and competitions; disseminates the ideas of healthy way of life among the legal professionals.
