None of the Italian operas buffo, except Il Barbiere di Sevilla of G. Rossini, can vie with it in the richness of contrasts, brilliance of orchestra, quality and diversity of the subjects. G. Donizzettti’s opera L’Elixir d’Amor is elegant and melodious. Lively, enchanting, ordinary people, wishing love and happiness of being loved, act in the peripeteia. For this they are ready to believe in the “miraculous love beverage”, that is being sold by a cunning merchant Dulcamara. It’s not he who unites Adina and Nemorino, but a sincere love of the lad and responsive heart of the ingenuous girl. Our theatre prepares a production of the opera Bogdan Khmelnitskiy in a new musical redaction and a new musical version of the denouement on occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian composer Constantine Dankevich’s birthday and the 410th anniversary of the Ukrainian hetman Bogdan Khmelnitskiy’s birthday.
