DICOM relies on computer industry standard network connections, and media devices that address the communication and storage of digital images from diagnostic modalities such as CT, MR, PET, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, X-ray, CR, digitized film, video capture and HIS/RIS information. It also supports the connection of networked printers, such as laser imagers (cameras). The DICOM standard has now been implemented in an increasing number of medical products from various vendors. The rapid adoption of DICOM by the medical imaging industry is opening new opportunities for health care organizations to increase the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care. We have great experience in the information exchange between third-party medical equipment and PC-based HIS/RIS (Hospital Information System/Radiology Information System) through DICOM interface.
