(see Videos Page - click on text files) Children will love learning Ukrainian from their friends in Alphabet Village, an enchanted place where letters grow on trees and the river flows with alphabet soup. Through songs, games and entertaining techniques, Boomchyk Borovyk and Pani Vera teach the children of Alphabet Village (Natalka, Yurko and Maksym) their alphabet, how to count, the days of the week and months of the year, as well as names of family members, foods, body parts, and much more...all in Ukrainian, in Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4. Milya, the lovely English-speaking host, pops in throughout the videos and provides encouragement and explanations of the on-screen activities. Closed captioning is also provided in English. (Milya is the yellow puppet, in above photo, on the left, seen with Ukrainian Power creator, Olga Halaburda, and Boomchyk, the purple star of the show.) The "Ukrainian Power" video series is endorsed by parents and educators. The video series is being used as a teaching tool in Ukrainian homes as well as American and Canadian public schools. In addition to immersing viewers in the Ukrainian language, the videos share elements of the Ukrainian culture, such as Ukrainian dance, an Easter egg demonstration, a visit to a Ukrainian festival and a lesson in playing the traditional Ukrainian instrument, the bandura. The "Ukrainian Power" video series is now available in DVD form. Volumes 1 & 2 are included on one DVD. Volumes 3 & 4 on another. Help "Ukrainian Power" with it's mission of entertaining and educating children in Ukrainian by telling all your Ukrainian friends about "Ukrainian Power" videos. We need your support to continue producing and offering top-quality Ukrainian language products for children. "Ukrainian Power" is Endorsed by The Ukrainian Educational Council (Shkilna Rada.) The Ukrainian Educational Council (Skilna Rada) coordinates the activities of the Ukrainian Saturday School System throughout the United States. It has also established a close working relationship with Ukraine's Ministry of Education. "Ukrainian Educational Council U.C.C.A. recommends the Ukrainian DVDs, entitled 'Ukrainian Power,' produced by Olga Halaburda, for preschool children as well as children attending early elementary school. This DVD production is in Ukrainian, with minimal explanations in English. The children are exposed to the Ukrainian alphabet, days of the week, months, zoo animals, colors and some Ukrainian traditions by means of various games, songs and fairy tales." The Foundation for Ukrainian Science and Education (FUSE) also endorses the "Ukrainian Power" programs and educational products. FUSE is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to serve and grant opportunities for the advancement of science and education in Ukraine.
