[] Who we are O ur Society called "Philanthropic Society of assistance to disabled People and People with unsufficiency of Intellect 'ARK' " consists of about 50 members T hese are special category of the disabled: a child with mental disorder or disease, autistic illness, cerebral paralyzes as well as adult people with the same illness. T he Society 'ARK' unites parents, relatives of the weak-minded and simply merciful people. T he trouble id that the weak-minded can't live without outside assistance but they suffer not rather their physical and mental defects than consciousness they aren't admitted such as they are. A s a matter of fact Society banishes the weak-minded and founds special shelters for them and than forget about their being. We don't want to give our children to so-called shelters where the weak-minded are kept on physical being only. Top What we've done yet W e've taken on lease a small building in the forest because we think the weak-minded must be close to nature. We gather three or four times a week there but intend to be there every day. W e arranged to work with horses which we rent in the Horse Club. D isabled people began making patchwork and painting with teachers. W e consider that all disabled people are teachable so we try to write different specialists to work with them. Top What our purposes T The purpose of the Society 'ARK' is to fill of meaning in lives of people who weren't given developed intellect by nature who sometimes can't talk but they've got hearts which are in need of love and understanding. W e intend to found "Rehabilitation Center" where the weak-minded could live and be busy. They could be given physical rehabilitation and be taught plus psychological supporting. A lmost all these disabled people be engaged with some kind of work: painting and sculpturing, surveying and plaiting, weaving and quilting. S o we'd like to found a shop where some of these disabled people could work for themselves. A nd we could arrange philanthropic bazars where their production could be sold for their living and medical serving. W e also plan to arrange garden in order to plant fruit-trees and flowers. A s for physical rehabilitation we'd like to build a swimming-pool and a gymnasium and a sport-ground. Top What we are need of W e need exchange experiences with other similar Philanthropic societies. W e also need any help and supporting because as a rule mothers of disabled children can't work to earn money: they must be about their children for the whole day long. T he weak-minded give disability pension no more then 5-10 dollars per months and their mothers 1 (one!) dollars a month only. S o we need help very badly. We entreat you to be charitable and not to turn us down. Top
