About AIHA
AIHA is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded by major associations of US hospitals, hospital systems, and academic research centers. AIHA is working under a series of cooperative agreements with US Agency for International Development (USAID) -- a US government agency that supports economic growth, agriculture, trade, global health, democracy, conflict prevention and humanitarian assistance in many countries of the world. AIHA is establishing and coordinating professional volunteer-driven peer-to-peer partnerships between health care institutions of the USA, countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and New Independent States (NIS). Since 1992, AIHA has supported more than 80 partnerships between health care providers and academic centers of the USA and 21 NIS and CEE countries. The list of American partners includes over 80 hospitals and health care systems and 35 medical schools from 31 US state. AIHA has supported various forms of assistance and cooperation between the partners, including conferences, workshops and creation of health care knowledge networks in NIS and CEE countries.

Particularly, AIHA maintains the EurasiaHealth Knowledge Network -- an on-line clearinghouse featuring a library of multilingual health resources, databases, and interactive forums. This clearinghouse is designed to serve as a repository for clinical practice guidelines, medical textbooks, and other educational materials that are available in Russian and other languages of the former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe.

Detailed information about AIHA, its programs and partnerships, location of regional offices, AIHA staff and partner directories are available on the AIHA's main Web page.
