A delegation, consisting of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine representatives and administration of the Testing Board and Bohomolets National Medical University, has recently visited the Gulf Medical University

A delegation, consisting of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine representatives and administration of the Testing Board and Bohomolets National Medical University, has recently visited the Gulf Medical University to promote international collaboration and skill-sharing.

During this visit, the delegation has met with the Gulf Medical University administration, faculty, and students.

Relevant issues of healthcare education and the spheres of its possible improvement were discussed. The delegation had an opportunity to study the education quality assurance system, implemented at the Gulf Medical University, and the experience of the University Testing Center, as well as share the experience in the sphere of independent knowledge assessment (exam content, format, and procedure).

At this meeting, the parties agreed on collaboration with the foreign colleagues, which will bring new opportunities for the improvement of the Testing Board working process and training of the medical personnel in Ukraine.

Considering academic dishonesty of examinees during the Krok Exams

On October 26, 2021, the Testing Board administered an additional Krok 1 and Krok 2 exam session for future physicians, dentists, and pharmacists. As is the procedure, this additional session was intended for the students, who were absent at the main exam session or its retake, held according to the Exam Schedule 2021, and have a reasonable excuse for their absence at the time that is confirmed with necessary documents.

Overall, 331 students were registered for the additional exam session that took place in Kyiv, on the premises of the Bohomolets National Medical University.

Regrettably, during this exam session two medical school students were dishonest in their attempt to pass the exam, having paid medical school graduates and practicing physicians to take the exam in their place. This fraudulent scheme involved replacing the photo in the examinee’s passport with the photo of another person. The Testing Board employees present at the exam have discovered this fact and reported it to the law enforcement authorities.

The law enforcement officials have arrived at the site of the exam administration and documented the fact of the fraud. Currently, the passports with signs of tampering are confiscated and the investigation is underway.

For another five students the exam has been discontinued because of their attempts to use the gadgets banned at the exam: mobile phones, micro earpieces, smart watches, transmitters, etc.

The Testing Board will continue to take all the means necessary to prevent academic fraud and dishonesty on the part of examinees at the Krok exam sessions.

We would like to thank the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Migration Police Department for their support and active collaboration!

Anti-epidemic measures during the administration of the Krok Exams

  1. On the day of the Exam, it is forbidden to hold any other public gatherings in the schools, including skill-building sessions in the classrooms or laboratories, other tests and exams, public thesis defense, etc.
  2. The schools must determine the routes that can be used by the examinees to reach the classroom, where the Exam is to be held. The schools must also draw up a schedule, according to which the examinees will be admitted into the building, where the Exam is to be held. The routes and the schedule must account for the time needed to measure the temperature of every examinee and prevent the examinees from forming a crowd.
  3. Before starting the Exam, the temperature screening of all Exam participants (examinees, Testing Board proctors, authorized representatives of the school) must be conducted:
    • The persons with the body temperature above 37.2 ºС or signs of respiratory infection cannot take part in the Exam.
    • If a student or an intern is not allowed to take the Exam for health reasons, the proctor and the authorized representative of the school must draw up a report.
  1. At the entrance into the building, where the Exam is to be held, the schools must organize hand sanitation stations, where one can clean his/her hands with alcohol-based antiseptics, containing over 60% isopropyl alcohol or over 70% ethyl alcohol:
    • The hand sanitation stations should be marked with a brightly colored and highly visible sign (banner, sticker, etc.), stressing the mandatory nature of hand sanitizing.
  1. Entrance into the building and participation in the Exam is allowed only while wearing a medical mask or a respirator:
    • Respirators can be used without replacement throughout the whole test.
    • Medical masks must be replaced at least every 3 hours or even sooner, if they become dirty or wet.
    • No accompanying persons are allowed on the school premises, unless they are accompanying examinees with disabilities that require support.
  1. The seats for the examinees are determined in advance. The distance between the seats must be no less than 1.5 meters. One classroom can hold no more than 50 examinees.
    • Additional information (posters, banners) about the importance of respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette should be provided at the Exam administration sites.
    • During the Exam, it is recommended to keep the windows open (with the doors shut), if the weather allows it.
  1. Closing trash cans/containers for used masks must be placed at the school premises and marked with a bright and clearly visible sign “FOR USED MASKS AND GLOVES”.

Please, take note that if the State Commission for Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations declares the capital a “red zone”, a number of restrictions will be imposed there. In particular, the examinees will be admitted into the classroom, where the Exam is to be held, only if they have one of the documents listed below:

  • “yellow” or “green” COVID Vaccination Certificate, foreign COVID Vaccination Certificate;
  • a document, confirming vaccination with the first doze of a vaccine – Form 063-О;
  • International Vaccination Certificate;
  • negative result of COVID-19 PCR test or express test (remains valid for the duration of 72 hours).
