Yes, we know that all babies love to be carried in this way. Unfortunately, in this position, they have poor hips and spine support. We recommend carrying in this position only when you’re holding the baby on your arms while also bending in the waist a little bit back to compensate the pressure applied on the spinal cord. On the other hand, most of the babies feel safe and happy if carried face-to-face with their parent, being able to watch all around them from both sides of the carrier. The front-inward position is also better for sleeping.
All of them are comfortable for men, but for women, especially when they are still breastfeeding, we recommend our AIR X carrier. Its shoulder straps are parallel and will not cause any discomfort for the breasts.
We believe that even with infant insert these types of baby carriers do not provide optimal support for a newborn, due to the low head and neck control. On the other hand, it's really easy to overheat a small child in an insert and a carrier on top. Check out our baby wraps or LoveTie, they are great and super light options for newborns.
We use double security buckles to ensure that it would never open when the baby is in the carrier. To open it just squeeze the two sides and the central button of the buckle at the same time and it should open without any troubles.
According to the European safety standard EN 13209-2:2015, you can start carrying your baby on the back starting from 10 months.
You can use Love & Carry® DLIGHT and AIR X baby carrier at the age of 4 months. At that time, babies usually are able to roll over in both ways, but of course, it's too early for them to be able to sit up independently. With a minimum weight of 7 kg and height of 65 cm, both baby carriers will hold the baby correctly: hips will be spread in physiological M-position, spine, and neck will be supported by the carrier's back.
You can also use Love & Carry® ONE carrier, in which little ones can be carried since birth (with the weight of 3,5 kg). Its structure ensures that there is no unnecessary pressure being applied on the baby’s spine or on its hips. Once the baby sits up independently on its own you can use our Love & Carry® Hipseat.
The width and height of the backrest are adjustable in ONE, LoveTai and Mei Tai so you can make the carrier just the right size for your small baby. AIR baby carrier can just be enlarged with back extenders, but both DLIGHT and AIR X carriers cannot be smaller than they are.
Even though both LoveTie and ONE Love & Carry® baby carriers can be used for newborns there are a few distinctive points.
The first and most obvious difference is that there are no wrappings and knots when using ONE Love & Carry® baby carrier, as it is fully equipped with fasteners for more comfortable use.
However, Love & Carry® LoveTie is suitable for carrying premature infants (although you should always consult a doctor first!) and is a lighter version for the summertime unlike Love & Carry® ONE.
Yes, you can. But please give yourself a few days of rest. Don't forget that this wrap can also be used by any caregiver you of your choice.
No, we strongly discourage you from using this position for the sake of baby’s safety. A little one’s chin can be easily pressed to its chest, due to this the airways can be partly blocked. It is safe to carry the baby only in an upright position.
It is a well-known fact that babywearing is not only safe but rather beneficial as for newborns as well as for older babies well into toddlerhood. Throughout the 9-month period of pregnancy, the baby gets used to being close to mummy in a warm and safe place. After birth, however, the newborn feels unaccustomed and strange facing this completely new and frightening world. The baby feels their safest when they are held close to their parent because the atmosphere resonates with the feeling of being in a womb, hearing their parents’ heartbeat, the draw of their breath and the tone of their voice. Apart from that, you have your hands free to get everyday stuff done. One of the greatest benefits of babywearing is also great relief with the back pain as the baby’s weight is evenly distributed on the parent’s torso.
As for the support system, while carrying, the baby’s back and neck are both supported. There is no pressure applied on the spinal cord, as the natural shape of the spine is kept, knees are higher than the baby’s bottom, being in a so-called M-position and legs are supported from knee to knee. Due to this, there is no danger in babywearing for babies of any age if the carrier is chosen correctly and the product is used in accordance with its instructions.
However, not all baby carriers are suitable for newborns. You should pay attention to the age, height and weight requirements listed on each specific type of carrier. Love & Carry® baby carriers that are suitable for newborns are: stretchy and woven baby wraps, LoveTie and Love & Carry® ONE "soft-structured" carrier. All of them are completely safe for newborns if used properly.

Yes, it is made of 100% cotton fabric with a thin inner layer. Just don't forget to check whether the baby's clothes are not too warm.
Love & Carry® LoveTie can be used for babies weighing 3,5-15kg, while Mei Tai is suitable for bigger babies with the weight of 4,5 kg up to 15 kg. The reason for this difference is height and width adjustments that provide perfect weight distribution and make LoveTie the best mei tai for newborns. Love & Carry® Mei Tai, on the other hand, is a simpler version with a plain and whimsical print. You can check out our page “COMPARE CARRIERS” to get a better vision of the differences.
Yes, we advise you to wash your LoveTai in cold water using a delicate mode.
Yes, you can easily breastfeed in this carrier. While holding your little one with one hand, untie the shoulder straps and slightly lower the baby as much as you need and tie the straps once again. Always keep one eye on the baby to make sure its nose is not covered and it’s breathing easily. Don’t forget to reposition the baby in the correct position right after breastfeeding.
Babywearing under the coat Love & Carry® babywearing coat is a 3 in 1 product that can be used as a regular down jacket, a babywearing jacket, a coat for pregnant women and will help you out for years. Here are some tips for carrying with a babywearing coat:
1. Wear as few layers of clothing between you and the child as possible as you are going to keep the baby warm with your body heat. However, do not forget to keep the little one’s feet and head warm as they are not covered by the carrier. It is a great idea to use a beanie or a turtleneck or a balaclava to protect the baby’s head. Please use warm socks/booties for the the little one’s feet.
2. Don’t forget that although you are moving and keeping yourself warm, your child is being still in the carrier. Due to this your perception of temperature may differ. Check on your baby’s temperature regularly.
3. Please be cautious when walking on slippery icy surfaces. You can wear sturdy shoes with suitable soles for winter or you can buy shoe spikes to fit your regular boots.
4. Use baby facial cream in winter to protect your baby’s face from dryness and rashes and to keep those rosy cheeks moisturized.
5. You should always pay attention to the baby’s airways and make sure its face is not pressed against your chest or clothing. You must have a clear look at the baby’s nose and mouth at all times.
The duration of the first walk, regardless of the season, should be about 15-20 minutes. You should increase this time gradually, there’s no need to rush. In winter, the duration of the walk outside the carrier can be increased up to 1.5 - 2.5 hours, however, if the temperature is below 10 degrees, you may want to refrain from long walks until the weather gets a bit warmer. It is recommended to make pauses from babywearing and to spend no more than 1-1,5 hours in the carrier in general. So, come inside, take the baby out of the carrier, get warm, change your baby’s position and let its muscles relax. After a 20-minute break, you’re good to go out and explore again. However, if the child fell asleep, you shouldn’t wake the baby up, it is totally fine to wait for the little one to wake up on its own.
