    Russia restricts religious freedom in Crimea

    Russian repressive laws have “significantly reduced religious freedom” in the annexed Crimea, in particular, Russia has refused to register the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate on the peninsula. This is stated in the annual report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), which documented violations of freedom of religion in 28 countries of the world in 2017, Radio Liberty has reported.

    Church is planned to be turned into a communal grave

    Archbishop Klyment of Simferopol and Crimea of the UOC-KP demands from the Crimean branch of the FSB of Russia to investigate into the actions of the security forces who blocked the temple of the Holy Equal-to-the Apostles Princess Olga and Prince Volodymyr in Simferopol on August 31, as well as to ensure the safety of the parishioners. Archbishop Klyment plans to file the relevant appeal with such requirements to the Kremlin-controlled Crimean government and the FSB of the annexed Crimea in the near future.

    President Poroshenko calls to stop attacks on the Ukrainian Church in Crimea
