REPORT ON THE RESULTS OF
XIII INTERNATIONAL WATER FORUM AQUA UKRAINE – 2015

XIІI International Water Forum «AQUA UKRAINE - 2015» was held on November 10-13, 2015 at International Exhibition Center, and traditionally consisted of the specialized exhibition and scientific - practical conferences, seminars, «round tables», etc. Event was held by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and with support of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Municipal Services of Ukraine, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine and other relevant agencies, Messe Berlin GmbH. Organizer: International Exhibition Centre.
«AQUA UKRAINE» is approved by UFI – the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, assigned since 2008.

In recent years, Forum became a part of complex exhibition project, which brings together a number of thematically related areas (Specialized Exhibition «Industrial Ecology», International Specialized Exhibition «CommunTech», Agroindustrial Exhibition «AGROFORUM», International Specialized Exhibition «Energy Efficiency. Renewable Energy», Specialized Exhibition «EuroBuildExpo»).

Traditionally, XI International Congress «Institutional and technical aspects of reforming housing and communal services – 2015» (organizer - the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Municipal Services of Ukraine) and International Investment Business - Forum on energy efficiency and alternative energy (organizer – State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine) became the leading events of exhibition program.

Opening ceremony of the Forum and International Congress was attended by:

After the welcome words honored guests were introduced with the latest technology and equipment of water industry, scientific and technical development in housing and municipal services, construction, effective use of renewable energy sources. More than 350 Ukrainian enterprises and well - known manufacturers from Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Great Britain, Greece, Denmark, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Lithuania, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, USA, Hungary, France, Czech Republic and Switzerland presented their products in mentioned categories. Exhibitions with total area ​​about 13 000 sq m were attended by over 8000 representatives of various branches of economy, including heads and engineers of municipal water utilities, design and construction organizations, river basin authorities, food, pharmaceutical, chemical and petrochemical energy, agroindustrial enterprises, science and research organizations and others.

Within the Congress, International Conference «Problems and perspectives of water supply and sanitation development in Ukraine» and round table «Key aspects of quality of drinking water supply to the population of Ukraine» took place, where legal regulations on the cost forming of cold water supply and sanitation services, development conditions of the sector, stabilization of financial and economic aspects, optimization of centralized water supply and sanitation, environmental problems over drinking water and ways of its solving, effective control of drinking water quality and other topical issues were discussed. Total number of all specialized business events this year has reached 15.

During seminar «Development of housing and municipal services in Kyiv: achievements and future plans», organized by Kyiv City State Administration, representatives of Kyivenergo, Evrorekonstruktsiya and Kyivvodocanal presented speeches on cooperation of providers of centralized heating service, hot and cold centralized water supply and sanitation, with local authority under conditions of legislative changes.

At the annual scientific - practical conference «Water and Environment» (organizers: Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine, GWP - Ukraine) following subjects were touched: «Global and regional water policy framework «Water for Sustainable Development», «Instruments to provide equal rights to water and sanitation», «Modern challenges and solutions to water management problems in Ukraine». Discussion was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine, State Sanitary Epidemiological Service of Ukraine, the State Institute of Management and Economics of water resources, the Institute of Colloid and Water Chemistry named after Dumansky, Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of Ukraine, water management and public organizations, scientists and experts of water sector.

By signing the European Charter of Local Self-Governing, Ukraine has not only declared recognition of European democratic governance principles, but also assumed certain obligations related to local reforms and its legislative support. The practical applying of European principles of democratic governance and further promotion of state control decentralization requires active involvement of international best experience. DESPRO is Swiss - Ukrainian project «Decentralization Support in Ukraine», funded by the Swiss Confederation through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by the Swiss resource and consulting center on development (Skat). In order of optimization the managing system and promote effective local development DESPRO held a round table named «Drinking water supply in the village: challenges and plans of development». Discussion touched the most urgent issues on legal regulation of centralized drinking water supply in countryside. Since municipal engineering networks in Ukraine are worn out, as most of them were put into operation in Soviet times, there is a need of complete replacement of used networks to modern, due to international standards. Participation of the largest domestic and foreign manufacturers contributed to market saturation in this area. High quality products of largest European manufacturer of ceramic pipes and fittings for private, municipal and industrial sewerage systems – Steinzeug - Keramo, – were presented by International Association of Termoenergetic Companies.

The increased interest of visitors was caused by exposition of Imest Plus, which firstly presented canal - rinsing machine ROM COMPACT Base (Netherlands) and a wide range of tools for tube processing.

As usually, the wide diversity of equipment for water and wastewater treatment and supply were presented, as pumps, cast iron, plastic and ceramic pipes, valves, etc. Visitors of stands Nasosenergoprom, Panda, Logrus, Akvantis were introduced with pumping equipment of known domestic and foreign manufacturers as: SAER, Pedrollo, Lowara (Italy), Desmi (Denmark), Graco (Belgium), PCM (France). The presence of the leading Ukrainian producers of pipes and piping equipment – Ukrpolimerkonstruktsiya, Brovary Plastics Plant, Budindustriya Plant, 2H Plast Ukraine, Brotep Eco, is especially important for development of municipal services of Ukraine. For the first time Azerbaijani manufacturer Azkompozit Ltd took part in exhibition and presented GRP - pipes, fittings, fiberglass tanks, profiles, hatches for water supply and sewage systems, cooling systems, etc.

Solutions to clean of polluted water, its disinfection, iron removal, softening and treatment were offered by Hidromatic Srl (Italy), LWT 2000, Osmos Komplekt, VTA Ukraine Plus, BWT Ukraine, Bortek, Hydroflow Ukraine, Nero - Service, Zepter International Ukraine.

As municipal utilities, industry and agriculture are main polluters of sewage and account over 90% of total wastewater, the cause of hidden emission of polluted wastewater is due to outdated sewage treatment plants use. ASIO spol. s.r.o. and Kubicek VHS s.r.o. (Czech Republic), SUEZ Environnement (France), Aerokor, Oniko, SPF «SVK», Ekomash, Unilos - Ukraine, Albion Group presented the latest technologies for wastewater treatment and sludge disposal.

Considering the relevance of energy saving we need to study international practice and ways of its implementation in Ukraine. In this case companies introduced devices to reduce costs of water consumption, test and measuring equipment manufactured by «Terla Freelime» (Italy), «Hihippo» (Taiwan), Aplisens (Poland), Flomag sro (Czech Republic), also «SERVOMEX»™ (United Kingdom), «SIRGIST»™ (Sweden).

Rapid development of bottled water sale shown as participation in exhibition a number of companies engaged in production, bottling and delivery of drinking water.

In conclusion, this year the variety of products presented during the exhibition allowed professionals of water industry to get complete information about the market situation and current trends, discover the latest technologies and equipment, establish contacts with partners, compare and evaluate market offers.
