Ukrainian Gas Investment Forum ‘16

“Ukrainian Gas Investment Forum ‘16” will be held on 23 March 2016 in InterContinantal Kyiv hotel under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine. Organizer – A7 CONFERENCES, Co-organizer – Dentons, Strategic Partner – Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine. The Forum will become a first international event with a focus on the market investment opportunities for Ukraine. The purpose of the Forum is to create a professional communication platform for open public discussion amongst representatives of public authorities, international organizations and Ukrainian companies with a view to appear at a new level of Ukraine’s gas market development.

 During the “Ukrainian Gas Investment Forum ‘16” a new specialized organization will be presented: Association of Gas Producing Companies of Ukraine – the professional community of the largest gas producers, which was founded to secure the energy independence of Ukraine in order to increase the domestic gas production, conductive investment environment and the implementation of best industry practices. Danyil Majdanyk, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Gas Producing Companies of Ukraine, noted that the objective of the Association is a common movement to the energy independence of Ukraine.

 The consolidations of participants, an integration of representatives in such field are submitted in order to achieve the energy independence of Ukraine. A special attention and discussion are requiring the  new gas market rules, On the Natural Gas Market Act which was entered into force on 1 October 2015, which complies the requirements of the EU’s Third Energy Package. In the process of the gas market reforming with the aim of its demonopolization, Ukraine can become a full actor of the European natural gas market. A new market is going to operate in the middle of 2017 in Ukraine.

 “Gas market reformation should be accelerated, in order to activate mechanisms indicated in this law” – stated the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Volodymyr Demchyshyn. According to him, the Ministry want to demonopolize this segment and in short terms to establish the conditions where it’s participant will not abuse the monopoly position. Reformation of gas market covers gas transportation, producing and shipment and stimulate the competition on national gas market producing and import. Nowadays, Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine  works on the gas market restructuring and creating corresponding regulatory base.

 Forum participants emphasize the necessity to reorganize the Naftogaz Ukraine. Nowadays, the monopoly company controls 75% of Ukrainian gas production, individually buys 100% gas in Russia and is the global trader which delivers gas to 74% Ukrainian consumers.

 During the Forum different subjects on Ukrainian gas market reformation from EU point of view, new rules on gas producing in Ukraine and tax issues, licensing and permission on the promotion will be discussed. Participants of international companies will share the EU experience in natural gas market reforming and investment attraction in gas producing industry. Forum participants will discuss challenges which investors and Ukrainian financial agency confront with. Besides, during the Forum’s 1-on-1 meetings between investors and Ukrainian gas companies will be held.

 Representatives of government and international organizations, national and foreign gas companies, foreign investors in gas sector, as well as investment bank representatives and consulting companies will participate during the Forum. Forum seeks to draw attention to foreign investors for potential opportunities of Ukrainian gas market with the purpose of foreign investments attraction to this sector.

 The Investment Catalogue of Ukrainian state-owned and private gas enterprises will be prepared. The Catalogue will be represented exclusively during 9 international investment forums “Invest & Trade in Ukraine”, organized by A7 CONFERENCES in Dubai, Toronto, Warsaw, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong,  Beijing, Almaty, Tel Aviv and New York during 2016-2017.
