Ukrainian Economy Minister expects GDP growth in 2015 at 1.5%
Ministry of Economic Development and Trade predicts GDP growth in Ukraine in 2015 by 1.5%, if the armed conflict in Donbass will end in 2014. Minister Pavlo Sheremeta told this at the Ukrainian-Japanese forum.
“We now expect a "plus" for GDP growth, small, unfortunately, but a plus," - Sheremeta said.
According to him, the Ministry of Economic Development has two scenarios, and both depend on how the economy will respond to the government's measures to facilitate business. When asked about the possible growth rate of GDP, Sheremeta said that it is about 1.5%, noting that both scenarios provide end to the conflict in Donbass in the current year. "Otherwise it will be more weather", - he said.
Recall, the International Monetary Fund forecasts a GDP drop in 2014 by 6.5%, the World Bank - 5%, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - 7%. According to the State Statistics Service, the decline in GDP in Ukraine in the second quarter 2014 compared to the second quarter last year accelerated to 4.7% (in constant 2007 prices).
