UKRAINIAN FILMS TO BE SHOWN AT FILM FESTIVAL IN ITALY!
Three Ukrainian films will be shown within the Ukrainian Focus program at the 14th Ischia International Film Festival (Italy) to be held from June 25 to July 2. The three films include historical drama by Oles Sanin “The Guide” and two documentaries – “Chornobyl” (director – O.Karnasiuk) and “The Living Fire” (director – O.Kostiuk). The screenings will be held on June 26 – 30.
Note: Film Forum on Italian island Ischia takes place at the Aragon castle and is supported by the European Parliament and private sponsors. Its permanent head is Michelangelo Messina, who was the jury member at the 45th Molodist KIFF. The main festival feature is awarding special prizes and awards to the best films relating to culture and history of different countries, regions and cities.
The festival program this year includes 101 films. Among them – short, full-length films, feature and animated films.
Andriy Khalpakhchi, General Director of Molodist KIFF: “Ukrainian films will be shown for the first time during 14-year history of the festival on the island of Ischia. Last year, we invited Michelangelo Messina to the jury of Molodist and it was the beginning of our friendship and cooperation. Since then, we built up a bridge bringing us to Italy. Molodist together with Italian Cultural Institute and N.I.C.E. cultural association (Florence) are presenting Italian films to the Ukrainian audience. And now, we present Ukrainian films to the Italian audience. This is a good tradition and example of cultural diplomacy which stands to reason and works”.
