About the client:

Our client is an international MVNO with operators in 9 different countries with a yearly revenue upwards of 600 million USD. The mobile operator focuses on migrant communities making it easy for them to call home. It was made a strategic decision to focus more on IP based services. For that reason we are setting up a new division that will focus on making mobile applications. The idea is to make sure this new entity has a bit of a different culture than the existing corporate one. That’s why we will set up a new office outside the HQ. The first application we will be working on is a mobile VoIP and messaging app that will allow customers to make even cheaper calls than they are already doing using their existing SIMs. However, the idea is to also work on other mobile applications related to banking, content/video streaming, etc.

You role:

We are looking for Senior Android Developer for its Digital division. This department will be responsible for building several mobile applications such as a communications app. Some of application will be built from scratch.

Your role (briefly):

• Design and implement applications for the Android platform
• Work on bug fixing and improving application performance

Your qualification:

• A higher professional education or university degree (BSc, MSc)
• Extensive knowledge of Java, at least 5 years of experience
• At least 3 years of experience in developing Android apps
• Good knowledge of Android frameworks and third party libraries
• Familiar with iterative development and TDD
• Experience with networked applications/socket programming
• Familiar with XML and JSON
• Good communication skills in English (verbally and written)
• Being pro-active and goal oriented
• Analytical, capable of working independently as well as being a team-player
• Experience with C(++) is a plus
• Experience with VOIP and/or XMPP is a big plus
