What does it mean?
This means the Zhovkva town hall takes care of citizens and guests of Zhovkva – and of tourist service as well. We wish all the tourists that come to Zhovkva to hear the true story of our town and the entire area, to hear the truth about heroes of our history.
Why do we do it?
Since the very beginning of tourism in Zhovkva there were many booklets and books in the stores that tell the history of Zhovkva and the region with numerous mistakes, some of which :travel” to modern editions. For example, Stanislav Zholkevsky, founder of Zhovkva who was born in Ukrainian Orthodox family and never denied his Ukrainian origins, is called there “great Polish hero”. Since the lack of the texts of good quality many tour guides still use such a silly sources and as a consequence, in their stories you can find many “facepalm” errors, when, for example, they speak aboutl the basement of living houses in a marketplace and call it “ruins of the city hall”, “city fortification” of “antic city”.
But now we have many good texts about Zhovkva – both serious historical articles, collections on local history, popular essays, tour texts. So, modern licensed courses can train well-qualified tour guides. Also, it is impossible not to base on the materials by local historians - which is also taken into attention by those courses. So, only a tour guide that knows all this information about Zhovkva and specializing on Zhovkva can tell tourists the truth and all the truth.
What should you do
If you have graduated from new tour guide courses, passed the exam on Zhovkva and got the proper certificate from the Accreditation Committee on Issues of Certificates of Excursion Activity of Lviv State’s Administration and if you know a lot about history of Zhovkva, than just come to Tourist Information center with the following documents:
- completed application form
- 2 photoes
- copy of internal passport
- copy of certificate from the Accreditation Committee
- copy of certificate of private enterprise or agreement with the excursion office
- and you MUST have a certificate that you passed the exam on Zhovkva
WARNING: standard badge issued by Lviv region council is valid ONLY in those objects where the local self-government did not issue other decisions. So, it is not valid in Zhovkva
