Dechen Gyatso was sixteen years old and in high school when the madness of Cultural Revolution swept through Tibet. Unable to do anything in its path of destruction, he became a silent witness to the upheavel caused by Mao’s decade-long political campaign in Tibet’s capital city Lhasa. In this week’s Table Talk, he remembers the political, cultural and psychologial traumas, chaos and upheaval caused by Cultural Revolution on him, his family, and people of Lhasa.
