According to the Tibetan calendar, this year’s May 15 is the start of the Buddhist holy month Saka Dawa. In order to observe for this significant month, many people from different places in Tibet have pledged to quit drinking and gambling.

There have also been pledges for unity among Tibetans and other ethnicities to obtain social harmony.
