CTA Organizes Buddhism and Tibetan Language Workshop

The Department of Religion and Culture of the Central Tibetan Administration based in Dharamsala, North India in collaboration with Gyumey Tantric College in Hunsur, South India are organizing a six-month Buddhism and Tibetan language workshop for Tibetan graduates starting July 1, 2014.

In an interview with Ven. Norbu Dhonden, the secretary of Department of Religion and Culture, he said that the the Dalai Lama has for the past many years encouraged Tibetans to learn the eseence of warm heartedness and kindness as part of the educational curriculum beginning from kindergarten, and have asked the Tibetan lay people to take equal interest in Buddhist studies as monks and nuns to serve the community better.

With that guidance of the Dalai Lama, CTA has taken the initiative to start this program.

The workshop is expected to cover Tibetan language and basic Buddhism.

The program requires graduates with good understanding of Tibetan Language, and will be provided a certificate after passing the exams.
