In 2016, Continental Tire will continue its long-running support of sports car racing through a multi-year deal with International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) as the Official Tire of IMSA.  The Prototype, Prototype Challenge and GT Daytona classes in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will run exclusively on Continental’s ExtremeContact™ DR (Dry Race) tire which has been specifically developed for the series.  Continental Tire will also continue as the title sponsor and official tire of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.

From the ExtremeContact™ line of tires, the durability and performance of Continental’s race tires have been second-to-none over the last six years and have given the world’s best drivers the grip and confidence they need to win races and championships.  In October 2013, Continental tires gave driver Colin Braun the confidence he needed to go 222.971 mph around the famed Daytona International Speedway in the No. 14 Michael Shank Racing Ford EcoBoost Daytona Prototype car, breaking the record for the fastest lap around the 2.5-mile oval.

On the streets, the Continental ExtremeContact™ DW (Dry Wet) ultra-high performance tire is tuned for drivers seeking extreme grip in dry and wet conditions without sacrificing tread life and comfort.  The ExtremeContact™ line of performance tires also includes the ExtremeContact™ DWS06 (Dry Wet Snow) and the WinterContact™ SI.
