CHARLOTTE PLAYGROUND BUILD
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2016

There’s nothing like watching children’s faces as they see their dream literally rise up from the ground before their eyes. When you and your co-workers volunteer to construct a playground in just eight hours, you’ll find yourselves inspired and fulfilled by the immediate results of your efforts. Plus you’ll discover it’s the perfect way to build teamwork and a creative sense of play within your company!

This year's 14th Annual Charlotte Playground Build is presented by Hands On Charlotte and the Business Volunteer Council. Those who’ve taken part in our projects have greatly enriched the lives of young children who otherwise might never have the chance to play to their heart’s content within a safe environment.

Please plan to join us for the 14th Annual Charlotte Playground Build on October 14, 2016 at Blythe Elementary School. We promise you’ll bring out the kid in our kids – and in you!

About Blythe Elementary

LeGette Blythe Elementary School, affectionately known simply as Blythe, opened in August of 1998. It was named for William LeGette Blythe, a native of Huntersville. He was an author and journalist who lived and chronicled Mecklenburg history.

Blythe Elementary is home to a diverse population of learners from pre-k through 5th grade. The school's mission is to ensure that each child experiences unique opportunities to become innovative problem solvers in an atmosphere of mutual respect and appreciation.

With nearly 1,200 students, Blythe is one of the largest elementary schools in the CMS district, and has the most critical need for new playground equipment. Blythe's open playfields and basketball court have been totally absorbed into the ongoing construction of a new middle school next door. Their playground equipment is the oldest in the system and without the open fields, it is becoming overutilized. In addition, they have a large pre-k population and serve several classes of students with disabilities.
