Bryce Harper clarifies HR Derby comments; waiting for ASG in DC

Bryce Harper clarifies HR Derby comments; waiting for ASG in DC

Bryce Harper made headlines last week following the announcement of the 2016 MLB All-Star Game rosters.

Harper, who will start in right field for the N.L. squad, was asked by reporters if he had any desire to participate in the Home Run Derby. The reigning N.L. MVP was a finalist in the 2014 Home Run Derby, but was pretty adamant that he would not be participating again.

"I just don’t want to, plain and simple," he said after the Nationals' loss to the Brewers last Tuesday.

"I just don’t really wanna do it. I justs want to enjoy my time, sit on the side and watch it a little bit. I enjoyed watching [Todd] Frazier win it last year, [but] I just don’t feel like doing it. I don’t even know if I’m gonna do it next year or the next or any other time ever. I just don’t feel like doing it."

With the Nationals slated to host the 2018 All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, many took umbrage with Harper's comments.

On Monday night, hours before he will take a seat to watch Mark Trumbo, Robinson Cano and the rest of MLB's top sluggers compete in the 2016 Home Run Derby, Harper clarified his comments with Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd.

I did an interview the other day and I think people really misread that or took that offense I guess," He told the host of "The Herd with Colin Cowherd."

"I want to do it in  D.C. I saw what (Todd) Frazier did last year in Cincinnati and it was amazing. And, I mean, I would love to possibly do it in D.C. and take the crown home in D.C. I mean, what better way to do it than in your hometown."

Frazier, then a member of the Reds, put on a spectacular exhibition of home-run hitting, made even better due to the fact that the entire stadium was behind him.

"I'm probably going to it the next time when it's in D.C. You know, Wil Myers is doing here in San Diego for them (the Padres). But, I would love to do it in DC in '18."

Bryce in '18 is definitely a campaign we can get behind.

Now you can buy Bryce Harper's childhood home

Looking for some serious National's memorabilia? Check out the housing market, where Bryce and Bryan (A pitcher for Triple-A Syracuse) Harper's childhood home is for sale.

Located in Las Vegas, Nevada the five bedroom and three bath home is selling for a mere $334,995, which according to Busted Coverage is $25,000 less than what it was sold for in 2004, but your investment would include so much more.

Bryan, who is two years older than Bryce, said goodbye to 6383 Cantelope Ct, on Instagram, expressing the sentiment the home holds for him.

Moms finally selling the house!! Grew up in this place and made some great memories with family and friends!! Gonna be sad to see it go!! 6383 Cantelope Ct, Las Vegas, NV 89012

The lucky people to own this home next might be graced with some special baseball magic, or just a ton of buried balls in their back yard.

Numbers don't drive Bryce Harper in strong new Under Armour commercial

Numbers don't drive Bryce Harper in strong new Under Armour commercial

In May, Bryce Harper signed a new endorsement deal with Under Armour.

The 10-year deal was lauded as "The biggest deal ever for a MLB player," and while the specific numbers fo the deal have not been released, the final number is sure to be huge.

But the reigning 2015 N.L. MVP and 2016 All-Star Game starting outfielder is not a big numbers guy.

Harper's career has been packed with milestones and statistics, but as he suggests in his newest Under Armour commercial, he doesn't play the game for numbers.

Sure, reaching milestones is great, but the game is about taking swings and having fun.

Under Armour has been on a strong run over the last two years, with Stephen Curry, Jordan Spieth, Cam Newton and Harper earning extraordinary athletic accomplishments, and the Baltimore-based apparel company has matched their athlete's performances with incredibly strong commercials.

This is the second commercial for Harper with the "It Comes From Below" tagline.

The commercial is very good, but the shoes may be better.

Gold is a nice touch.
