An official associated with one of the sponsors of the series was arrested for alleged rape even though he pleaded innocence to the charge. The Zimbabwean media had earlier reported that an unnamed Indian cricketer had been arrested on charges of rape.
Vijay Mallya, who was spotted at a book launch event in London, has said he was not a "gate crasher."
Indian High Commissioner Navtej Sarna's presence at the event had sparked a row. External Affairs Ministry had issued a clarification that Mallya was not on the list of invitees of the event organiser. But the business tycoon contradicted this in a tweet. Sarna walked out of the event after Mallya was spotted.
