Yes, the Tone of the Sanders Campaign Matters, and Yes, It's Too Ugly

(1025) Comments | Posted April 4, 2016 | 9:02 AM

[Full Disclosure: After voting in the primary, I dropped my Democratic Party registration in 2008, over the party's unwillingness to step in and stop some ugly early attacks from the Clinton campaign on Barack Obama. Likewise, I believe that the Clinton campaign's attacks over the Auto Bailout vote...

Despite D.C. Wishes, GOP Base Voters Still Want Ice Cream

(11) Comments | Posted October 29, 2015 | 10:22 AM

Watching the D.C. establishment try to get GOP base voters back on the reservation is a lot like watching a parent trying to convince a child who is eating ice cream to take a bite of healthful food.

"How about carrots, huh? You love carrots, don't you? Take a bite...

(109) Comments | Posted October 2, 2015 | 11:09 AM

After the 294th mass shooting of 2015 in America, President Obama pointed out the obvious yesterday.

"What's become routine, of course, is the response of those who oppose any kind of common-sense gun legislation. Right now, I can imagine the press releases being cranked out. 'We need more...

Even the Person Who Collected the Footage Carly Fiorina Says She Saw Proves She Didn't See It

(69) Comments | Posted September 29, 2015 | 1:48 PM

Another day, another person proves that Carly Fiorina didn't see the video that she claims she saw. What's interesting is that, this time, it is the person who is responsible for collecting the very footage that Fiorina claims she viewed.

As first reported by Time's Michael Scherer, Gregg Cunningham, the...

Carly Fiorina Lies to Fox, Has a Bri-Wi Problem

(1872) Comments | Posted September 19, 2015 | 2:51 PM

Carly Fiorina has a big problem with the truth. More specifically, she has a problem with embellishing the truth, in a manner very reminiscent of disgraced NBC anchor Brian Williams.

On Friday, conservative radio host Sean Hannity asked Fiorina to explain stories that Hewlett-Packard violated in the Iran embargo, by...

Time for the President to Switch to South Paw

(9) Comments | Posted September 27, 2012 | 5:00 PM

As a native Philadelphian, there was something in the "wudder" there which makes me still relate everything in the world to the Rocky saga. And, so, as I look at the polling landscape in the presidential race, I can't help but think it's time for President Obama's campaign to switch...

(7) Comments | Posted April 18, 2012 | 3:40 PM

Tall, skinny and sporting a beard with shaggy hair, 31 year-old comedian Lee Camp resembles many of the ubiquitous young comics in the New York City comedy scene, today. But, Camp's jokes are less about Generation-Y's latest interest like Spotify, and more an unleashing of his anger at...

Grassroots Comedy for SNL

(7) Comments | Posted May 13, 2010 | 4:15 PM

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Saturday Night Live. From the time I was a toddler, I watched the show. In 5th grade, for a class project, I did a fake ad for "Jimmy Peanut Butter," impersonating Dan Aykroyd impersonating Jimmy Carter. If that wasn't enough...

Triangulation by Dummies

I have one question for the White House: Who, exactly, are you going to gain support with by enacting a spending freeze that isn't exactly a spending freeze?

  • Liberals balk because it sets limits on what could be spent on important programs, while letting bloated budgets like...

Conservatives: "Public Health Care Option Is The Best, But You Can't Have It"

(34) Comments | Posted June 9, 2009 | 2:01 PM

The conservative mantra, for as far back as anyone can recall, is that the government can do no right, and the private sector can do no wrong, thanks to market principles of competition. "Government isn't the solution to our problem - Government is the problem," declared Ronald Reagan.

Well, that...

Why Rahm Is Right

(95) Comments | Posted November 5, 2008 | 12:09 PM

Let me start this post by saying I'm no Rahm Emanuel fan. I don't like his vicious hatred of Howard Dean and the 50-state strategy (which I helped kick start back in the '04 election). I don't like how he's stared down the base sometimes. He's not a guy I...
