Date:
Jonathan Byrd

Jonathan Byrd kept his name in contention with a 4-under-par 34-34=68 during the third round of the Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach, reaching 10-under 206 on the week, just one stroke off the 54-hole lead.

After a second-round effort that included a pair of eagles, Byrd stuck to the normal sized birds today, racking five birdies with one bogey thrown in the mix. That came on the par-3 sixth hole when he found a greenside bunker with his tee ball. Byrd landed all 17 of the other greens in regulation, which is a great way to remain in contention. The Clemson product arrived with top 20s in all three previous visits to Coco Beach G&CC, and it looks like he's in for another come tomorrow.
Mar 26 - 7:57 PM
George McNeill

George McNeill has been disqualified from the Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach, following his third-round, 5-over-par 39-38=77. A non-conforming club was the culprit for the DQ.

McNeill fired out of the gates on Thursday with a 7-under 65 in the opener before stalling out with a 1-under 71 on day two. He got himself out of contention early today with a bogey on the first and a disappointing double on the par-5 fifth hole. There have been no specifics released about what club caused the issue or why, but we will update here if or when that news comes in. McNeill would have entered Sunday at 3-under 213, eight strokes off the pace set by Ian Poulter.

Steve Marino

Steve Marino molded a bogey-free, 3-under-par 35-34=69 during the third round of the Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach, sliding in at 10-under 206 and just one stroke back entering the finale.

Marino opened the week with rounds of 70 and 67 before this blemish-free navigation. It was one of just three bogey-free rounds on the day (Tony Finau, Rodolfo Cazaubon). He landed 13 greens in regulation, accumulating 40 GIR on the week (T11 in the field). Marino is making his tournament debut but has proven to be a quick study. In 181 career starts, he's landed on the podium six times but still lacks a win. He will have a chance to change that come tomorrow as he starts one strokes off the pace.
Mar 26 - 7:32 PM
Rafael Campos

Overnight leader Rafael Campos rallied for an even-par 38-34=72 in the third round of the Puerto Rico Open for a 54-hole tally of 9-under 207, down four spots and into three-way T5, two shy of 54-hole leader Ian Poulter.

The Puerto Rican led by one after opening his ninth PR Open appearance (and ninth overall PGA TOUR event) with a career-best bogey-free 64. He maintained the one-shot advantage with 1-under 71 in R2, but he's hanging on for dear life after a progressively worse 72. The 27-year-old, whose career-best finish on TOUR is T29 here in 2014, bobbled from the outset of his third frame, and didn't record a par until his eighth hole of the round. On holes 1-7, he erased three birdies with three bogeys and a double bogey-6 to reach the break on 2-over. To his credit however, the VCU alum came home in bogey-free 2-under, circling birdies on 12 and 16.
Mar 26 - 6:50 PM
Ian Poulter

Top-ranked Ian Poulter painted a 4-under-par 33-35=68 in today's third round of the Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach to post 11-under 205, good for a one-shot lead over three players.

At No. 67 in the Official World Golf Ranking, Poulter is the highest-ranked player in the field. He's making his tournament debut along with 36 others (132-man field to begin) and he'll be in the final twosome on Sunday with fellow first-timer Tony Finau. The Englishman began his third frame in a seven-way logjam on T3, two adrift of 36-hole leader Rafael Campos, after opening in 71 and bogey-free 66 -- the latter was the low lap in R2. He split nine (of 14) fairways and circled five birdies on 12 greens in regulation for 1.583 putts per GIR. The 40-year-old's lone bogey was a failed scramble at the par-4 13th. This is his first 54-hole lead on TOUR since the 2015 Honda where he shot a final-round 4-over 74 and settled for T3.
Mar 26 - 6:26 PM
Louis Oosthuizen

16-seed Louis Oosthuizen closed out 8-seed Dustin Johnson with a 2-and-1 win in the quarterfinals of the WGC-Dell Match Play to advance to the semifinals.

This is Oosthuizen's first foray into the Final Four in his seventh Dell Match Play and he'll face off against another first-time semifinalist in 52-seed Rafa Cabrera-Bello. He was 1 down to Johnson thru four holes, winning the third with birdie-3 from 10'9" but losing holes 2 and 4 to birdie-3s by the American. The South African remained 1 down at the break after the duo halved Nos. 5-9. He got back to all square with his third birdie of the match, rolling in a 25-footer for a 3 at the 10th and took his first lead winning the 11th with a par 3. They exchanged sloppy bogey-6s at the 12th before Oosthuizen won the 15th with birdie-3 from 37 inches and then closed out Johnson with a 21'3" bomb for birdie on the par-3 17th. Johnson had a birdie chance from 6'0" to extend the match but missed.
Mar 26 - 6:11 PM
Rafa Cabrera-Bello

52-seed Rafa Cabrera-Bello continued his improbable march at the WGC-Dell Match Play with a 2-and-1 quarterfinal win over 45-seed Ryan Moore and will face the winner of the Dustin Johnson vs. Louis Oosthuizen match in the Final Four.

This is the Spaniard's third Dell Match Play appearance and first since a T17 in 2013. He's into the semifinals with an impressive 4-0-1 record and never trailed in his match with Moore. The 31-year-old won the first hole (concession) and was all square thru four after conceding the third. He quickly moved to 2 up with back-to-back birdies at the par-4 fifth and par-5 sixth, respectively, and halved the par-3 seventh with a one-putt par from 9'4". Moore won the eighth with a par 4 to get to 1 down and the match stayed that way for the next six holes before Cabrera-Bello won the 16th with a conceded birdie-3 after hitting his approach from 124 yards to six inches. The pair halved the next two holes to conclude the battle.
Mar 26 - 5:48 PM
Jason Day

2-seed Jason Day rallied to a 3-and-2 win over 18-seed Brooks Koepka in their quarterfinal match up at the WGC-Dell Match Play and advances to the semifinals against 3-seed Rory McIlroy.

Day, the 2014 champ, will square off in Final Four action with the defending champ McIlroy in their first-ever meeting in this event. With his victory over Koepka, he improved to 5-0-0 on the week, and with Jordan Spieth exited in the Round of 16, Day will supplant him as the world's top-ranked player. The Aussie was 1 up on Koepka thru four holes after winning the par-4 third with birdie, but the American fought back to take a 1 up margin after winning holes 5 and 6 with back-to-back circles. Day got it to level with his second birdie from 12'10" at the par-4 eighth and took the lead for good with a 7'5" birdie-3 at the 10th. He won the par-5 12th (concession) to go 2 up and the 15th with a par 4 to go 3 up with 3 to play. The duo halved the par-5 16th in pars to conclude the match.
Mar 26 - 5:33 PM
Rory McIlroy

3-seed and defending WGC-Dell Match Play champ Rory McIlroy was the first to advance to the semifinals with a 4-and-3 victory over 54-seed Chris Kirk.

McIlroy improves to 4-0-1 in this year's competition and 22-6-1 overall. He took the lead out of the gate with birdie from 10'7" at the par-4 first and went 2 up with a par 3 at the fourth. Kirk squared the match winning the par-4 fifth with birdie and the par-4 ninth with par (McIlroy bogeyed both holes). The Northern Irishman picked up as he began with birdie-3 at the 10th from 5'6", extended to 2 up with a two-putt birdie on the par-5 12th, and sealed the deal with birdie-3s on holes 13 and 15, both from inside 10 feet. The 26-year-old will face the winner of the Jason Day vs. Brooks Koepka match in Sunday morning's Final Four.
Mar 26 - 4:48 PM
Nick Taylor

Canada's Nick Taylor spun a 5-under-par 32-35=67 on day three of the Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach to reach the three-quarter pole on 8-under 208, up 23 places on the live leaderboard to T7 and tied with Tony Finau and Scott Brown for the low laps of the day in the clubhouse.

Taylor is making his PR Open debut with 36 others and opened with 70-71 to sit T30 after two rounds on 3-under. He managed seven (of 14) fairways and improved to a week-best 12 greens in regulation, circling birdies on Nos. 2, 5, 8, 9, 11 and 15 for 1.583 putts per GIR. The 27-year-old's lone blemish was a bogey-4 on the 16th (failed scramble).
Mar 26 - 4:31 PM
Tony Finau

Tony Finau twirled a bogey-free 5-under-par 34-33=67 in the third round of the Puerto Rico Open to post 10-under 206, up 14 spots on the live leaderboard and good for the 54-hole clubhouse lead. UPDATE: With play completed, Finau is in a three-way T2, one back of leader Ian Poulter, and will play in the final twosome on Sunday with the Englishman.

The 26-year-old is making his PR Open debut and entered off four consecutive missed cuts and a T43 at last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational that ended with a 5-under 67 that gave him a bit of a boost. He began Saturday's play on 5-under (T15) after opening in bogey-free 69 and a three-birdie one-bogey 70. The second-year man mustered a week-low eight (of 14) fairways but circled five on 12 greens in regulation for a tidy 1.583 putts per GIR and 25 putts total. Thru three rounds, he's currently T35 in total birdies with only 11, but he's No. 1 in bogeys with just one, which came on the par-4 12th in R2. Finau's 67 is tied for the low loop of the round with Nick Taylor and Scott Brown.
Mar 26 - 4:04 PM
Scott Brown

Past champ Scott Brown authored a 5-under-par 34-33=67 in today's third round of the Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach to post 9-under 207, up 17 places on the live leaderboard to T4. UPDATE: With play completed, Brown is in a three-way T3, two back of leader Ian Poulter, and his 67 remained tied for the low round of the day.

The 2013 PR Open winner began Moving Day on 4-under (T21) after beginning his fifth appearance in 71-69. For a third straight round, he found seven (of 14) fairways and is currently T63 in that stat at 50.00 percent (21/42). However, the 32-year-old pelted all 18 greens in regulation in R3 and was No. 1 in the field in GIR at 87.04 percent (47/54) at the time he signed his card. The Augusta, Georgia, native circled six for 1.778 putts per GIR, highlighted by a birdie-birdie finish. His lone bogey was a three-putt on the par-3 16th. Brown's 67 is tied for low lap in the clubhouse with Canada's Nick Taylor and Tony Finau.
Mar 26 - 3:50 PM
Dustin Johnson

Eighth-seeded Dustin Johnson knocked out the 9-seed Patrick Reed 3-and-2 in Round of 16 action at the WGC-Dell Match Play and will square off against 16-seed Louis Oosthuizen in the Round of 8.

Johnson was the Group 8 playoff winner with a 2-1-0 record while Reed emerged from Group 9 with a perfect 3-0-0 mark. Each player enjoyed a 1 up margin in the first nine holes with Reed striking first with birdie at the par-5 sixth before Johnson won the seventh with birdie and the ninth with par to turn 1 up. Reed got back to level with par at the 10th, but DJ took command starting at the 11th with a run of birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie to take a 3 up lead, and then closed out Reed with a birdie-4 at 16, his seventh circle of the match. This is Johnson's first time reaching the quarterfinals in his eighth Match Play appearance.
Mar 26 - 2:24 PM
Ryan Moore

Making his sixth WGC-Dell Match Play appearance, 45th-seeded Ryan Moore advanced to the quarterfinals for a second time with a 4-and-3 thumping of 63-seed Patton Kizzire and will battle 52-seed Rafa Cabrera-Bello in the Round of 8.

Moore emerged the winner of Group 13 with a 2-0-1 record while first-timer and TOUR rookie Kizzire was the unlikely winner of Group 4 with a 1-0-2 mark. Moore took a 1 up lead with a seven-footer for birdie-3 at the first and never looked back. He moved to 3 up with back-to-back birdies on 4 and 5, from 8'2" and 7'8", respectively, and reached the turn at that margin after circling his fourth birdie from 9'2" at the ninth while losing the sixth to a par. The 33-year-old halved the 10th with a 19-footer for par before Kizzire finally circled his first birdie at the 11th to get to 2 down, but Moore won the 12th and 13th with pars and halved the 14th and 15th to end the contest.
Mar 26 - 2:09 PM
Brooks Koepka

18-seed Brooks Koepka earned a 1 up victory over 28-seed and past champ Matt Kuchar in the Round of 16 at the WGC-Dell Match Play and will face off against 2-seed Jason Day in the quarterfinals.

Koepka was the Group 10 winner with a 2-1-0 record while Kuchar emerged from Group 7 with a 2-0-1 mark. The 25-year-old is making his second Match Play appearance after being eliminated in the Group Stage last year with a 2-1 record. He never trailed in his match against Kuchar, the 2013 champ. Koepka raced out to a 2 up lead with back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and 3 and the match would stay there until Kuchar trimmed the margin to 1 with his first birdie at the ninth. Par at the 11th moved Koepka back to 2 up before Kuchar fought back to all square winning the 13th and 16th with birdies, but Koepka would end things with a 39-inch birdie-2 at the 17th.
