Tomas Fiala

Chief Executive Officer

Tomas Fiala, Chief Executive Officer of Dragon Capital, has over twenty years’ experience in Central and Eastern European securities markets. He started his career at Bayerische Vereinsbank in Prague in 1994, continuing studies at the Prague University of Economics. In 1995, Tomas joined Wood & Co., a leading regional investment bank, and was sent a year later to Ukraine to establish and run their office in the country. Under his leadership, Wood & Co. became the largest investment bank in Ukraine. Following the 1998 financial crisis, he moved to Wood’s Warsaw office to launch their online brokerage. In 2000, Tomas initiated the founding of Dragon Capital. Since its foundation, Tomas has been the CEO of Dragon Capital, building the company into the leading investment bank in Ukraine and a trusted financial adviser for international investors. He sits on the boards of several companies, including AIM-listed Dragon-Ukrainian Properties & Development plc. Tomas has twice been recognized as “Best Manager in Ukraine” by Ekonomika publishing house (2009, 2010).

Since December 2010, Tomas has served as elected President of the European Business Association (EBA), a leading organization for foreign businesses in Ukraine which unites over 900 companies employing over a million people. Tomas received a 10-Year Achievement Award from the Kyiv Post for “outstanding contributions to life in Ukraine during the past decade” (2011).

 

    Brian Best

    Managing Director, Investment Banking

    Brian Best manages the investment banking department at Dragon Capital. Brian joined the company at the start of 2006 after heading his own corporate finance firm, Rubicon Capital. Prior to starting his career in investment banking, Brian spent six years as a Director with one of Ukraine’s largest private equity funds, where he managed investment projects in the telecommunications, media, technology and FMCG sectors. One of his most significant transactions was the acquisition and consolidation of Ukraine’s largest cable television network, Volia Cable, which boasts a 90% market share in Ukraine’s capital. Brian sat on the Board of Directors for many of the fund’s portfolio companies and actively participated in the Fund’s Advisory Board meetings. Before coming to Ukraine, Brian spent three years with the U.S.-based investment bank Lehman Brothers, where he was exposed to different areas of the investment banking business. Brian earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Thunderbird, the #1 ranked School of Global Management.

     

      Fyodor Bagnenko

      Managing Director, Fixed Income Trading

      Fyodor joined Dragon Capital’s investment banking department as an analyst in 2006, focusing on consumer, retail and real estate sectors. In 2008, Fyodor joined Dragon’s sales & trading desk, where he covered equity and fixed income sales to institutional clients in Europe and traded stock index futures on the Ukrainian Exchange. Since 2012 Fyodor has been working as a trader at Dragon’s fixed income desk providing market-making and execution service in Ukrainian sovereign and corporate bonds. Fyodor graduated with honors from Kherson National Technical University with a degree in International Economics. He also spent one year studying finance at Emory University in Atlanta, USA (under IREX UGRAD program).

       

        Konstantin Kucherenko

        Managing Director, Fixed Income Sales

        Konstantin Kucherenko is a Senior Sales on Dragon Capital’s fixed income desk, working with international institutional clients (hedge funds, mutual funds, private banks) focusing on both Eurobonds and domestic fixed income. Konstantin joined Dragon Capital in 2010 from Phoenix Capital, a Ukrainian investment bank. While at Phoenix Capital, he participated in an equity placement of a major Ukrainian agricultural company and focused on fixed income sales. Prior to that, Konstantin served as a legal adviser at the Investment Banking Division at Concorde Capital, a Ukrainian investment bank, where he was responsible for legal structuring of IPO and private placement transactions of Ukrainian companies on international stock exchanges and consulted companies on different aspects of Ukrainian and foreign corporate and securities law. Konstantin holds a Master’s in International Law from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Institute for International Relations. In 2007, he graduated from University of Hamburg with a summa cum laude LL.M.-degree. He also completed a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), its major courses including banking law, capital markets law, and covered bonds legislation.

         

          Denys Matsuyev

          Managing Director, Equity Sales and Trading

          Denys Matsuyev, Managing Director, Sales and Trading, supervises a team trading Ukrainian equity and derivative instruments in Kyiv, Warsaw, London and Frankfurt. He has been with Dragon Capital since 2006 and boasts more than 19 years of experience in the investment services industry. His trading expertise and international experience helped to grow Dragon Capital into a leading brokerage house in Ukraine with a third of reported transactions on the domestic exchange. Denys graduated from State University of New York and completed an internship at Auerbach Grayson, a New York-based global broker.
