National Exit Poll on 2014 parliamentary elections

On October 26, 2014 – day of the elections to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – “National Exit Poll” consortium which includes Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation (DIF), Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), and Ukrainian Centre for Economic and Political Researches named after Oleksanr Razumkov (Razumkov Centre) will conduct the National Exit Poll-2014.

Majority of Ukrainians are ready to make serious concessions to Russia and DPR and LPR leaders in exchange for establishment of peace

51% Ukrainians are willing to seek compromise in order to establish peace with Russia and self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republic. This is highlighted by the public opinion poll conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with Kyiv International Institute of Sociology during September 12-21, 2014.

Elections-2014: Expectations of citizens, ratings of candidates, and motivation of choice

Leader of pre-election race is Petro Poroshenko who is supported by 44.6% of those, who will participate in elections. 8,4% are ready to vote for Yuliya Tymoshenko, 7,5% – for Anatoliy Hrytsenko, 7,0% – for Serhiy Tigipko, 5,4% for Oleh Lyashko, 3,1% – for Petro Symonenko, 2,6% – for Mykhaylo Dobkin, 1,7% – for Olha Bohomolets, 1,6% – for Vadym Rabinovych. Other candidates have less than 1% of support.

The survey “Opinions and views of the citizens of Southern and Eastern regions of Ukraine: April 2014” was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology during April 8-16, 2014. The results are representative for the population (18 years and older) of each of 8 regions (oblasts) of the South and the East of Ukraine (Odesa, Mykolaiiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk oblasts).

Maidan-December and Maidan-February: what has changed?

During the month and a half the number of Maidan participants able to use radical protest methods have grown: boycotts, refusals to implement the decisions of the authorities (from 31% to 40%), unauthorized meetings and demonstrations (from 28% to 45%), strikes (from 32% to 47%), picketing state institutions (from 38% to 56%), seizure of buildings (from 19% to 41%), creation of armed formations independent from governmental structures (from 21% to 50%).

Among reasons, which made people came out to the Maidan , three the most widespread were: brutal beating of demonstrators at the Maidan on November, 30 night, repressions (70%), Viktor Yanukovych refusal to sigh the Association Agreement with the EU (53.5%) and desire to change life in Ukraine (50%).
