Height = 5.6’ and above, Age = 18-25 (25 years of age on 31st December 2013), Indian Passport

NO, just required to wear a swimsuit
Where to apply for auditions?
Online on the Indiatimes website and send an email with your name, age, height, vital stats, city of residence, city of application and pictures
What do you think is more important for winning Miss India, Beauty or Intelligence?
Both are important, however one must take note that this is primarily a beauty pageant.
Do you think Miss India has become a short cut to Bollywood?
Miss India is not a shortcut to Bollywood, but it is a good route or platform to the same as you can build a network of contacts and acquaintances that would be a useful foundation for a career in Bollywood.
If Femina Miss India is supposed to be the oldest and the most glamorous beauty pageant then why is beauty not given importance?
Beauty is given prime importance – in addition to other essential qualities such as brains, wit, personality and confidence.
Why is it that only height matters? Celina and Dia Mirza were 5'6 and they won, but nowadays only tall girls are wanted?
Height is only one of the things Femina Miss India looks for. Any girl 5 feet six inches and above can apply
Why do you think is the swim-suit round included as a judging criteria in the Femina Miss India pageant if what we actually look for is a beauty with brain?
We are looking at how the girl carries off the swimsuit and the confidence she exudes while doing so. We are also looking at how comfortable she is in her own skin and her body image. All these qualities are important in a pageant winner as a beautiful body is simply reflected in a beautiful mind.
Girls when they are not successful in one attempt, can they contest next time? What are all the qualifications required for the contests?
Yes they can apply next time till the age of 25 (as of December of 2014)
Is swimsuit round necessary to win the contest?
A swimsuit round is necessary to participate in the context. To win, you need to possess a range of qualities such as beauty, brains, personality etc.
Can pregnant woman take part in Miss India contest?
No, they cannot, and the same goes for married women as it is a Miss India competition. The contestant needs to be single, not married and not engaged.
I understand this contest is for unmarried females but why an age limit, why cannot a girl who is eligible in all aspects participate? When I was under 23 I did not have this freedom of taking decisions, now when I honestly want to learn something, why I am not given a chance?
Because there is a strict age limit as per international conventions. However, if one possesses exceptional qualities that can be envisioned in a future pageant winner (such as beauty, brains, wit, charm, personality and confidence), one can be considered.
I'm quite upset about the fact that NRI's are not allowed to participate, I'm an NRI myself, but I'm still an Indian resident and I have wanted to participate in the Miss India pageant since I was 9 and now that I'm 20 I am looking at the rules/regulations and it states that one must be an Indian? Is it true?
As the mandate stands, Indian passports are required
